Sitting in her office, Lily looked over the records of the previous CMO's. There were some notes written of various crew members. She didn't know why the other medical officers decided to leave. She was very glad that Sekat was here to fill the gaps, but what a workload he had to shoulder. She paused on one of the files, that of Lieutenant Hawke. Her medical records caused Lily to gasp. The woman seems to have gone through a bit of hell. She was a mix of Romulan and Betezed, Both having a high psionic level.

With a few taps she looked to see any records from a counselor. Not much appeared except for something to do with her childhood. There was some other information but Lily didn't open those files. She needed to get to know Lieutenant Hawkes on a more one to one basis.

With that in mind, Lily set off a message to Lieutenant Hawkes.

=^= Lieutenant Hawkes, this is Dr. Lily Marlow, would you meet me at Sickbay please?=^=

Sitting in her new office, Laural was about to fall asleep when a voice over the intercom jerked her awake. Catching the end of the message, Laural gave a sigh, “well, this should be interesting” she said before slipping on her uniform jacket and making her way down to sickbay.

After a little while, Laural walked into sickbay and looked around for the CMO. It had been some time since she’d been in here and the CMO had changed.
Stepping out from her office, Lily waved to Hawke. "Hi, I'm the new doctor, Lily. Would you come with me please?" leaving sickbay, and heading to the massage therapy room. Lily felt this would be a better place to talk, more relaxing.

There was a massage table, with parallel bars over it,attached to the ceiling, a privacy screen which was against the wall to the left. Nearby were shelves which had several baskets which held oils and ointments.

Lily walked over to the right side of the room where she turned on a large screen, which looked like a window overlooking a view of a forest with a stream nearby. The lovely babbling sound of the stream, with the intermittent sound of birds, could be heard. The sound of a breeze dancing amongst the tops of the pines rustling the needles. She activated an aroma emitter with essential oils which lightly scented the room, with the natural scent of the forest.

Closer to the door, on the right was an area which Lily used for Tai Chi. Motioning towards two comfortable looking chairs Lily took off her lab coat and sat down in one, motioned towards the other.

"Please, have a seat." smiling. Her demeanor as well as emotions were genuinely friendly and non-threatening.

Starting to get a little confused, Laural sat down in the offered chair. Most visits to sickbay were an in and out business so it was a little strange to Laural that the CMO wanted to sit down and talk, “is there something I can help you with Doctor? I’m not used to being called up for social visits”

"Actually, I wanted to get to know you, instead of just relying on the files at hand. When it comes to the health and welfare of a person, the cut and dried versions of health records, just don't seem to give any insight to the person in and of themselves." Lily stated matter of factly.

"Lets pretend that you have access to my medical files, and the list would be as follows. Patient: Lily Marlow listing of injuries; Concussion, lacerations on the back and right leg, second degree burns on the left thigh. Minor cuts and bruises, couple of broken ribs, two black eyes. No known allergies to medications." Lily taking a breath after stating those facts. "Those are real facts, and they are on my medical records. There is more about the treatments that I went through, but I digress. This is more about you, and what you are uncomfortable with, and how to treat the headaches you are dealing with."

"ok, where do you want to start? Physical or Psychological?" Laural asked, a little tempted to read through the doctor's file herself.

"Why don't we start with the physical things first, just so you can feel a bit more at ease. And if you are curious about something where I am concerned, you can ask as well." Lily sat back in her chair, feeling a bit relaxed due to the atmosphere in this room. Hence the reason why she designed it, just for this purpose.

Laural took a deep breath, "ok" she said, as she unzipped her jacket and slipped it off over her shoulders, "let's get the obvious ones out of the way first" Standing up, Laural took off her shirt to reveal an intricate pattern of tattoos and scars all across her body. "surgical scars from years of inhuman testing and biomechanical implants. Combat scars, misaligned bones and improperly healed fractures from pit fighting at a young age." she said, pointing to the patchwork of scars as she went. "Tattoos from the Orion Syndicate, Romulan Tal'Shiar, Starfleet Marine Corp, Section 31, Starfleet Intelligence and a few more artistic designs that I found I liked"

"May I?" Lily getting up from her chair to get a better look at the tattoos. "Those are very good!" she exclaimed. "If you don't mind, I'm going to touch the areas that have the scarring and tattoos, just to give you fair warning. I am sorry that happened to you. It's something that is rather traumatic for the body to endure." As she took a closer look.

"Have you been having any trouble moving, due to the scar tissue?"

Laural shook her head, “not that I’ve noticed. I do get severe back pain once every couple of weeks but a warm shower and a good night's sleep with some help from a hypospray tends to clear it up”

"Every couple of weeks?" there was concern in Lily's voice. "I'll have to have a look at that. Depending on a hypospray may not be the best way to treat what seems to be problematic."

“It’s just a muscle relaxant and I only use it when I need it” Laural said, standing still with her arms held out to her sides.

Lily ran her hand along the back muscles of Laural, "I recommend a massage, and I can teach you some exercises which will help out with relaxing the back. If you are willing that is. I won't force you on any of that, but as a doctor and a person, I would rather heal things as naturally as possible. I can feel that your body is out of balance."

Laural gave a shrug, “if you think you can do what technology can’t, I'm all for it. I’ll do anything”

"I've been known to help people out, using what I have learned." Lily replied quietly. "you can get dressed or I can start your massage treatment right now."

“Well, you called me down here for a check up anyway. Might as well get a good feel for what you have to work with, and besides I’m already half naked” Laural replied, putting her jacket and shirt onto the back of a chair

"You have a good point there." Lily remarked, heading over to the shelves for a sheet."Disrobe the rest of the way and lay face down on the massage table there." the massage table already having a cloth placed on it.

Once Laural was on the massage table, Lily draped the sheet over her from the neck down. The sheet had a slight warmth to it. As there was an area that she had, for that purpose. She also turned on the oil warmer for the massage.

"I'll be right with you." Lily disappearing behind a screen to change into the clothing she usually massaged people in. After a few moments she stepped back out in a sleeveless medium blue shirt, and black pants, her feet were bare.

"Okay, now to begin." stepping over to the oil warmer, she pulled out a bottle, thinking for the moment she moved towards Laural, and asked, "Would a scented oil bother you? I've got one that is great for sore muscles and such, it has the scent of eucalyptus and lemongrass but it's not an overpowering smell."

“Use whatever oil you like. I’ll try to keep the screaming to a minimum” Laural said, as she tried to relax. Her Romulan tendency towards paranoia wasn’t helping, but she could at least trust a Starfleet doctor not to cut her open without cause.

This elicited a raised eyebrow from Lily. "Was that humor?" she asked, not exactly certain as she's not familiar with Laural's personality. "I am just going to be massaging you, and not cutting in you. Don't see any need to do so. Just let me know if I need to make the massage firmer or softer. Have you had a massage before?" putting the oil on her hands and making the first initial contact with Laural's shoulders, with her hands. How is the woman going to take the contact, Lily never knew what the initial reaction would be, when the first contact of the patient's skin is made when the massage begins.

Tensing up a little as Lily’s hands touched her back, Laural took a deep breath and did her best to control her paranoia, “I’ve never had a massage like this before, no. I’m sure you know what your doing though”

"Another question or questions I have. Are you sensitive to people's emotions, their thoughts? Have you connected to anyone's mind while they are in contact with you?" Lily asked quietly, "That is something I should have asked you before making first contact. As it stands, I've already made a physical connection to your back with my hands, don't worry though, I am not planning on doing anything to make you go into a more defensive sort of mind-set." She said soothingly. And her hands weren't doing anything just yet.

Laural closed her eyes as a slight pained expression came to her face, “I have not used my telepathic abilities since I......” she said, pausing for a moment, not wanting to admit that she’d used them to kill someone, “.....since I was a child” she finally continued, swallowing her emotions, trying to keep them hidden. “I do get pretty severe headaches every so often when I am around other telepaths”

Lily processed what Laural had just told her, it was obvious from her body language and the tone of her voice that something traumatic had happened to her when as a child. Something that she couldn't bring herself to say what happened. Lily called out,

"Lights dim to 50 percent." the lighting dimming to where there was more light coming from the screen with the forest scene, than from above.
