Personality & Traits
General Overview | Dominic is somewhat timid and unsure when he finds himself in new situations. This trend, however, wears off quickly after he is comfortable with his surroundings. Once comfortable, Dominic is fairly laid back, enjoying lightened moods and the small things in life. He keeps a cocker spaniel, Archer, as a pet and close confidant. While sometimes unsure of his own abilities, he has become very good at surprising himself in pressure situations. He is deliberate in all of his actions. Due to this, he has a hard time being satisfied with his work until he deems it perfect to his own standards.
Strengths & Weaknesses | Dominic's greatest strength comes from his ability to know when to listen and when to speak. He is also very deliberate in his work. While his need for perfection has gotten him in trouble before, he stands by his decision to do things all the way, not half way. He is also someone who like to lighten the mood when he can. His weaknesses are much like his strengths; he tries too hard at times. He has been known to try too hard at being accepted and being right. Both of which create some tension with fellow officers. |
|
Ambitions | He would one day like to make a scientific discovery that can place him beside the greatest figures in Starfleet/Federation history, but he wants to do it quietly.
Hobbies & Interests | Dominic enjoys holodeck hockey, football, and darts. He also enjoys spending time with just himself and his dog. While he enjoys being secluded at times, he also enjoys spending time with his co-workers in social settings. Recently, he has gotten back into playing the trumpet from his childhood. |

Personal History | Dominic was born and raised in New Orleans on Earth. Having grown up in the flavorful, family-tied atmosphere of the region, he came to care for his family and friends above all else. From the time he was a young boy, he knew two things for sure: the first was that the knowledge of the universe was calling to him to study it, and the second was that he would go out and see space one day. From the time he was a young boy he studied the original Enterprise missions under Jonathan Archer all of the way up to the time's current history. Also during this time, he came to appreciate the pride that comes with doing work with one's hands. His family had a strict no replicator policy which built in Dominic a real sense of responsibility. In 2379, Dominic graduated with honors from Stanford University a semester early. He earned a degree in Quantum Analytical Chemistry with a minor Stellar Cartography. Early in 2380, his father, John, was transferred to a quantum mechanics lab in New Berlin. Dominic was offered a position under his father as an assistant researcher. The focus of the work was to better control the lattice structure fluctuations of dilithium crystals in a warp reactor. The research had not been going well prior to his father's arrival. He was brought in to try to save the program. By July of 2380, little progress had been made in the project, and it was placed on hold. Following the suspension of the dilithium project, Dominic decided he wanted to join Starfleet in order to better test his abilities away from the shadows of Earth. He enrolled in August of 2380, and moved down to San Francisco. At this same time, his father was sent on a tour of various scientific conventions in order to present the data the research team had collected and hopefully revitalize the project. During this time, his transport and caravan were caught in an ion storm which overloaded the EPS grids of the vessels, causing a shutdown in life support. His father died in the accident. To this day he struggles with his father's death and the it sometimes affects his work to the point of nearly getting nothing accomplished. Dominic's mother, Nicole, and younger brother, David, returned to New Orleans after John's death. Despite the circumstances, in early 2383 Dominic completed Starfleet training and was assigned to the scientific detachment at the embassy on Denobula. His main focus was to research the stability of a new element the Denobulans had attempted to synthesize. Growing tired of being on the ground, he put in for a transfer to a starship in order to explore space. Even given the tragic circumstances of space travel in his life, he felt that he could be closer to his father if he were out in space. Shortly after being transferred to the USS Oberon as Assistant Chief Science Officer, he was promoted to Chief Science Officer. Following the events of Oberon's investigation of an wormhole-like anomaly, the ship was too badly damaged to be of any use. As a result, the entire crew was transferred to Obsidian Colony. Dominic struggled with this transfer as he felt his opportunity for self exploration and scientific discover had been ripped from him. Eventually, however, he began to accept his new posting. Dominic had become very close to several crew members including Commodore Daniel Davis, who had come to see as a father figure, and First Lieutenant Erica McCormack. He had begun to fall hard for the latter, but was still unsure how to go about acting around her. On April 28, 2386, Dominic was promoted to Lieutenant JG for his exemplary duty on the Oberon while stuck in a parallel universe. Shortly after the crew was tranferred back into space on the USS Pendragon, Dominic had planned on proposing to his girlfriend Erica. He had a real, unreplicated diamond sent to him from Earth. On the night he was going to ask her to marry him, she didn't show up to dinner. She had vanished. Upon looking into it, she had asked for an emergency transfer. After eventually getting a message to her, she told him she loved him, but would never be with him because she felt she would only screw things up. It has taken him some time to heal, but he is slowly getting better. As for now, he keeps himself busy with work until he can fully drown her memory. Shortly after her leaving, Dominic began to have a falling out with his rearranged crew. He decided to put in for a voluntary transfer, and it was granted. He was assigned to the USS Illustrious and promoted to full Lieutenant. Dominic went aboard looking for a new start. It was here that he began to find some peace and comfort in an unlikely source; a vulcan. Commander Seklar and Dominic formed a solid friendship based on their mutual need for support in emotional and personal matters. Shortly after the encounter with the Dark Ones in the Azure Nebula and the crew's return to the Milky Way from the Triangulum Galaxy, he was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and eventually Commander as Second Officer of the USS Nimitz. Eventually, Dominic and his now good friends Commander Seklar and Admiral Hurin were transferred to Starbase 80. Dominic was the lead forensic investigator following the bombing of the station during multi-sector peace talks. He and his team also began the work of looking into the past of the planet Cheron over which the station hung. In 2394, the crew was transferred to the USS Camelot under the command of now Capt. James Hurin. Seklar was demoted to Commander and Dominic remained the CSO and 2XO. However, while in waiting for their ship at Starbase 82, he received orders away from the family he'd known for over seven years of his career. He must now pick up the pieces and find his place somewhere else. In 2395, he and others from the Majestic were trapped on Marga due to a machine that malfunctioned thus causing the planet to phase in and out the universe. Time passed different there than in the known universe and as a result, the crew was on the planet for five years of their own lives whereas only a few hours passed on the Majestic. While there, he met and fell in love with Zeria; being able to later convince her to follow him back to the ship and explore the universe. During his first mission on the Majestic, he was stranded on Marga III for five years. While only a few hours passed in his native universe, it was discovered that the planet suffered from the failed planning of Caretakers who had flung the lonely planet from its native universe into another. When the machines began to fail that kept Marga stably rooted, Dominic and several others were trapped there. During that time he met Zeria who he became close to. Eventually falling in love with her, he convinced her to go back to the Majestic with him. |
