Physical Description Kelris is a member of the semi-aquatic Renna species. Her skin is blue, providing a degree of natural camouflage in the seas of her home. She has webbing between her fingers and toes, but otherwise is quite humanoid. She is of average height and weight for her race, but petite when compared to a terran female.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Kelris is soft spoken, primarily due to verbal communication being something she picked up after meeting Star Fleet personnel. Her race are telepathic among themselves, and empathic with aliens. She is used to being part of what amounts to a kind of hive community. Getting used to humans and other aliens has taken a lot of effort.

That said, she is bubbly and generally very upbeat. Unless she's focused, the concept of polite formalities is lost on her. If one asks how she is, she'll tell them how she really is, not say 'fine' unless that is the actual answer.

The concepts of lying, deception, and privacy are very foreign to her. Telepaths keep far fewer secrets, and she didn't understand why someone would lie. She gets it now, but it still seems very odd to her. She has grown to love the human game of Poker. While it would seem that her empathy would make her a sure winner, players that play with her regularly can learn to mask this to their advantage, making bluffing a whole different aspect of the game.

-unable to telepathically communicate with alien races unless she has direct contact. There are exceptions, like Betazoids.
-cannot turn empathy 'off'. This can sometimes be overwhelming and cause sever headaches.
-empathic healing is extremely draining. While useful in some emergency situations, it is not practical to use in a medical sense on a regular basis.
-semi-aquatic. She does not fare well when she cannot keep her skin moist. Desert environments and lack of water are debilitating much quicker to her than a human.
-lonely. She grew up with the comfort of all her people's minds around her. She feels very lonely in this isolated, human, world.

Personal History Kelris was found in suspended animation in the wreckage of an ancient Ta'Ar empire warship. The Ta'Ar empire fell apart during internal power struggles several centuries ago. They had conquered Kelris' planet, and enslaved her people as they believed that the Renna could be used as a sort of 'fountain of youth' by their leaders.

While it was true that a few Renna were trained to use empathic healing, this ability had no geriatric properties. That didn't stop the empire from deporting all the Renna to experiment on however. As a healer, Kelris was of special interest to them.

Kelris was brought in by Star Fleet, where she learned spoken language, eventually graduating from the Academy as a counselor. She has been trying to get assigned to a ship exploring the regions of space where the Ta'Ar empire used to hold power, in hopes of finding some remnant of her people.
