The USS Majestic shimmered into existence before him. His senses aligned until he could feel every vibration of a heart beat, every pump of blood, every cell floating along doing it’s duty to keep each and every body alive and functioning. He could also feel their work. The dark haired pointy eared alien lying in sickbay, his body falling apart and betraying him. The brains of others, such exquisite and exciting webs of trembling, what he knew the crew on the ship called emotions.

He came through the mirror as he usually did. Even from there he could tell that she was not alone again. This dark haired, light eyed beauty with the faint ridges on her forehead. He particularly liked this one. She had a resistance, a strength to her that to him showed character. And, if he were being honest, if she were not an inferior life form he would mate with her. He found her quite attractive.

But tonight her mate was with her again. This annoyed him for they were not really mates but he could sense the pheromones, it was only a matter of time and yet this male allowed her into his den without claiming her. He would have done no such thing.

He lowered himself closer, darted the male easily into a deep and dreamless sleep. Her eyes opened as if sensing his presence. This was impossible, he was well shielded but he didn’t take any chances with this one. She was so observant, he allowed himself a brief look into her eyes as he hovered centimeters over her face and then darted her the same as the male.

This needed to be done, they needed to learn more about these creatures who had invaded their territory. Despite her beauty he really did want to know what made her quiverings slightly different from the rest. He might be attracted to her, but he was really going to enjoy this.
