Wilfred was getting ready for bed. It was early but he didn't have anything better to do but lie in bed and second guess his life choices. He had put on his pajamas, white with blue stripes and was just getting into bed when his door chimed. He frowned, no one ever came to his quarters unless he was in trouble. He didn't realize how true that statement was about to be.
Sadie was still undoing the braiding in her long red hair as she waited for the door to open. She was dressed in a floor length silken gown with an equally long robe covering the sheer fabric. She smiled innocently as she waited, her slender fingers raking through her hair to untangle it bit by bit. "I know you're home Wilfred," she said softly, knowing he probably wouldn't hear her through the door.
Wilfred put on a robe and headed for the door in complete confusion and a little bit of dread but when he opened it his mouth hit the floor. "Sadie?!" He stared for a good minute before his brain kicked in. "What's the matter?" He glanced around her as if he thought someone was chasing her. Something horrible must have happened for her to be standing here in that outfit. Her quarters were flooded? He tried to think of a logical reason but his eyes kept drifting back to her.
"Nothing is the matter dear," she said huskily, "can I come in? I couldn't sleep and you were so sick recently I thought I might as well check on you. I don't remember you coming in for a check-up you see." The nurse smiled brightly at him as she approached, the fabric of her robe shimmering as it caught the lights.
"Uh, yes." He moved aside for her. "I'm fine. I didn't need another checkup. I'm not that fond of doctors." Just as he was beginning to think it was brilliant that she was standing there, that she wanted to spend the evening talking with him a thought popped into his head. She was in her nightgown under that robe, he could see it. Was this some kind of joke? His face fell for a moment.
"I'm not a doctor," she smiled as she walked up to him. She paused for a moment then wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her head against his chest. She closed her eyes as she listened to the beating of his heart. "I'm just a simple nurse. Are you sure you're feeling alright? Maybe we should get you to bed and I'll look after you..."
"I'm beginning to think it's you who needs looked after. Are you feeling all right?" His voice was choppy and more high pitched than normal when she pressed herself against him. His heart rate had definitely doubled. He tried pushing her hands down. "Sadie, if this is some kind of joke, it's really not funny."
"I'm not trying to be funny.." she leaned up to kiss his cheek. "It's very sweet of you to think of me though, bit really I'm fine." She took his hand and started to pull him towards the bedroom. "Has noone ever taken proper care of you? Because I will..." She smiled at him in a mixture of adoration and concern.
"Uhhh . . ." He said in a sort of giggle, gasp and shudder all at the same time. He reached up to feel her forehead and then remembered some report of implants and immediately relaxed, that's what was wrong with her. There was a simple fix, they just had to figure out how to dig into her brain and remove it. Her brain inside her lovely head with the soft red hair that had a little bit of wave to it and looked so inviting to touch and run his hands through. He sighed, he didn't want them touching her. So he followed her, he didn't think the logical part of his brain was working anymore.
She giggled in return as he touched her forehead. "Can you help me undo this braid?" She asked softly, "I don't want to get it all in a knot, before going to bed again. And then I'll make sure you're all checked up. I mean you don't want to be kept from your duties right?" Her smile was all innocent as she studied him, wondering if somehow she wasn't appealing to him.
He stared at her completely clueless about something. But eventually he reached around and ran his fingers through her hair, undoing the braid gently. "You are the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. But I don't understand. Why me?"
"Why you what?" She tilted her head ever so slightly. "You don't see your own value do you? You're a kind man Wilfred, and beautiful even if you don't see it. And you deserve someone to take care of you. And I intend to do just that." She turned to fully face him, reaching to touch his cheek. "Don't you think so too? Someone who doesn't pull pranks and values you as you are."
"I didn't believe there was anyone in the universe who would." Wilfred pulled bravery from somewhere down deep and leaned forward and kissed her. She seemed to have a clear head about him, and she had been very affectionate from the first moment they met in sickbay. Maybe this was real.
Wrapping her arms around him, she kissed him back. "Of course there is," she said, pulling back a fraction, "come with me." Taking his hand again, she pulled him into the bedroom, closing the door behind her. "I wasn't kidding, I do want to take care of you," she said as she sat down on the bed. "Not just medically but we can start there. It's alright, I'm not your doctor, we'll leave more complicated things to them alright?" She patted the spot next to her. "Sit with me?"
He followed and sat when she requested. "What exactly did you have in mind?" Wilfred, asked as he swallowed, his eyes a bit wide.
"Whatever you need," Sadie whispered, leaning forward to kiss him again, "I'm here for you."
Wilfred accepted the kiss a little shyly and put his hands in her hair again. It was so soft and she was so beautiful but did she mean . . . ? "Will you stay with me tonight?"
"Yes." She smiled, closing her eyes as his hands traveled through her long hair. "I will stay." Opening her eyes, she gazed into his. "In your bed, with you," she added as if that needed more explanation. She shifted a little closer to him, hands traveling under his shirt. "Have you ever been with a woman?" she asked softly, no judgement in her voice.
Wilfred blushed again. "Just the one time at the academy. It turned out to be a prank." He was completely ashamed to admit it. Fortunately her hands were making it very difficult to think about anything else.
"I'm not a prank," she assured him, letting him go briefly to shrug out of her robe, her gown leaving nothing to the imagination. "There's no shame," she whispered in his ear, "just you and me. No jokes, no pranks, only us and whatever we want to do." She eased herself back, pulling him down with her. "Just us," she whispered, making him look at her as she pulled his shirt up over his head. "I've been with a man only once, but we'll take it one step at the time."
