Location: Transporter Room 2
Timeline: MD 1 1100 Hours

Jane stood at attention as the transporter beam re-materialized the person in front of her. He was a good half meter taller than her, his head gold in color while his body was covered in a thick layer of light creamy feathers. He snapped his beak closed and bowed, his feet coming together in a rigid stance that reminded Jane of an Earth flamingo bending to feed.

She had already assumed the same stance. "Ambassador, it's a pleasure to finally meet you."

"Likewise, likewise." The Creoli Ambassador's voice was high pitched but had a melodic quality to it. "My name is Vayr. Please call me this"

"Jane," the commander replied going with his suggestion of first names. "Would you like a tour of the ship first or be shown to your quarters?" Her first officer could have met the ambassador but as this was her first command she felt the need to take the extra step.

"Oh I would very much like to see your ship. I find space travel fascinating though I prefer to use my own appendages to get around. This is not always possible as I scare crew members and there is not always enough room in corridors."

Jane smiled at the image of him coming at her chief engineer or one of her other officers. "I suppose not. We do have a grand hall however, and the holodecks. Either should be plenty of space for you to fly." She turned to the transporter chief and said, "Have Ambassador Vayr's things taken to his quarters as soon as possible," but had moved away before he could reply, "Yes Ma'am."

"This is most pleasant to hear Jane, please lead on." His wing extended toward the door and she turned so the sensors above were activated. He followed her out and down the corridor remarking on everything from the size of the ship to the recent upgrades, pronouncing that he was pleased with everything.
