“I’m calling in a favour, Nyx,” Cassie simply said when the holographic Caitian appeared before her. She herself was seated on the floor, in the middle of her office, which was now highly common. The floor, as was also now common, was strewn with PADDs in preparation for the upcoming talks with the Sozon Emperor.

“Well, good to see you too, Cassandra,” her former co-worker responded almost sarcastically. They had worked well together in the past, but it was no secret that there was no love lost between them. While they were both efficient, they had very different approaches to their work. “What can I help you with?”

“I believe you’ve been assigned with the Sozon and Tulian cases?” Cassie simply asked. As soon as she had learned that both parties involved in her current mission had applied for membership within the Federation, she had started digging in central computers and found out who would be responsible for dealing with their case.

Nyx nodded. “Yes, I have. And I do believe you are currently on your way to Sozon II, are you not?”

“Indeed. I was wondering if you had, by any chance, taken a look at this yet,” Cassandra asked, transferring over a copy of Leyana’s betrothal contract.

She waited as her Caitain counterpart quickly read the document, and became increasingly appalled as time passed. “You realize what this means,” Nyx finally said, after a few minutes of silence, only interrupted by the soft sounds of PADDs shifting places as Cassie worked.

“I do. I know it hasn’t been two years since either party applied for membership…” Cassie started until she was abruptly interrupted.

“You want me to expedite the ruling.”

Cassie flashed her most charming smile. “You do owe me one. We get to Sozon II in less than three days, and I'll be in conference with the Emperor the next morning. We need leverage.”

Nyx snorted as only a felinoid could. “Fine. You’ll have a copy of the ruling by then. Now we’re even,” she said before cutting off communications.

“Thank you,” Cassie sing-songed at the now empty room before writing a message to an aide in Paris to have a bottle of the finest Saurian brandy available delivered on Nyx’s desk.
