Qurrac woke early with a warm Deltan wrapped around him; he was a bit sore as it was proven to him the reputation, she was also so gentle after sedated, he was quite sure she would be a very good long term love interest but that is not for him to worry about. He had woken her quite gently; she took the opportunity to show him she appreciated him buying her contract from a Ferengi Businessman. No one liked to be in debt to a Business man; the Labor taskmaster and only the minimal amount Latinum to maintain those under the Purse strings.
He had gotten her Room Service and a hearty breakfast; she was so content after the meal; she wanted to cling to him a bit; what would she be doing now is not anything he would be laying out for her. He gave her a very nice little Nest Egg of a gem that could get her back on her feet; he had even given her the last gem in the bag; between the two she might get back to the Deltan Home World of even Earth if she went thrifty?
She had managed to hold back tears; he could tell she wanted to cry but gave him a smile that did not reach her eyes; more than just a pleasant emotional expression, she reminded him that she owe him quite a bit for getting her out of a bad situation. Marcelee would be okay; he had paid the room for three days; it was his room actually that had three days as the Majestic arrived early but he wanted to have a place to complete his 'project.'
After leaving the Lady in his room the next thing for him to do is to follow the information that he was given by The businessman; it would not be a long stretch of the facts to guessed the Ferengi did not get a slice of the action. Making profit for being a Snitch gave him some profit where there had been none. Going to the Star Base Operations Department he showed his credentials and requested some files. The information to filter through might be time consuming but he also had a knack for going through the information.
Walking out with a thanks Qurrac had indulged into the PADD and the patterns would come together as he became aware of just what he needed. A series of facts connecting within 80% of the connected facts verified themselves. Qurrac started to put a grin on his face; the satisfaction of having found the thread connecting what he suspected.
[Machine / Manufacturing Section SB 50.]
Hanson; Chief Petty Officer Daniel Hanson, the shift leader for this Machine Shop and the fifteen person crew. Watching over the shop seemed to be his obsession. The small Ferngi entered his shop in a Security Uniform holding a PADD, the expression on the face eluded him; not the usual look that the Business men gave when coming to make a deal or try and get an advantage. The rank pips showed the man to be a Warrant Officer so not even really a threat for pushing any questions.
"What brings you to my neck of the station?" Hanson asked the Security Man.
"CWO Hanson?" Qurrac started. "You are Lead on this shift?"
"Of course." Hanson replied.
"Thus you are responsible for all actions of your people and shop?" Qurrac shot another question.
"I am in charge and Yes."
"Do you know Technician Eugene, Grant and Checkers?" Qurrac asked looking at his PADD. "The best efficiency Technicians of the shift and working closest with your approvial?"
"They are my Best men." Hanson agreed.
"Are you aware of the work hours logged?" Qurrac kept shooting questions. "You back the work orders?"
"Where are you going with this..." He did not know his name. "What is your name?"
"Qurrac." He gave him name. "Investigations Officer of the United Star Ship Majestic."
"A Star Ship investigator, what are you doing here?" Hanson shook his head.
"While waiting for my ship to arrive I was loaned out to the Star Base Security Section with Special Investigations Branch." Qurrac dolled out. "I am due to ship out with the Majestic and need to close out any cases I opened." Looking Hanson in the eyes. "I have one hundred and thirty two incidents of Replicator Overages." He glanced at the PADD. "And the twelve minutes on each work order replicator use; the industrial replicator hours having a seven minute discrepancy on each indecent logged."
Hanson was hesitating for a few seconds; astonished by his expression, he shook his head for a second.
"What are you talking about?" Hanson tried to deflect.
"These incidents." He passed the PADD to Hanson. "Computers verify the differences and the coding are all backing the facts on that PADD." He told Hanson. "The data is already in the system, you have a right to make a defense for yourselves."
The four Operations people came through the doors; the replacements for the crew that were under suspician.
"You made a major mistake." Qurrac continued. "You paid full price; you made favored Customers, more like the hue-mon saying 'A fool and his money are soon parted." Qurrac explained. "You became easy to trace and with some follow through interviews and computer checks of the raw materials from stores required to replicate Latinum going through your crew's units at the times of the incidents. I have also arranged for some of your paid Latinum to be recovered to be compared and connect you to the unauthorized replication of a controlled item."
"You have to be kidding." Hanson shook his head. "I-I cannot believe..." He began.
"There is also the fact Grant has spent more in Dabo than his wages and Eugene has bar tabs that he makes good that far exceed any compensation in your contract replicator rations." Qurrac spun on his heels to leave.
Hanson grabbed Qurrac's left shoulder to spin him back around but in a reflexive move Qurrac grabbed a wrist; wrenched it around and with setting his shoulders he redirected the weight of a larger man rolled him over his shoulders to place Hanson flat on his back and the side-stepped to put his whole arm to the point of hyper-extending the shoulder but not quite enough to do damage.
"Hue-mon Rule 872, do not judge a novel just by the cover." Qurrac snapped and then just cast the pain filled arm aside to walk away. "Base Security will be contacting you."Were the last words he spoke before going through the doors not looking back.
Qurrac had done his job; the case evidence was given, now all that remained is the Justice System will do their job to dispence justice. He is just a Investigator and gave all the fact of the case.
He had saved a girl and turned in those guilty by the facts he had accumulated.
It was another day completed.
