Timeline: The morning following the press conference

Cassie addressed the barista as she approached the coffee shop's counter. "I'll have a café au lait with a bit of cinnamon, and the hasperat , thank you." She smiled as she took her breakfast to a nearby table, plucking a copy of the day's newspaper on her way.
The Federation News were still buzzing about the successful negotiations and the following press conference: no surprise there. Both the captain and Cassie had refused any following interviews, preferring to let the final report speak for itself. The diplomat, however, had made a brief appearance during the cocktail party, if only because Starfleet tended to order the good champagne during such gatherings.
Clearly, the previous night's champagne was sub-par; Cassie was left with a headache this morning, even though she had only had one glass. Her morning yoga practice had somewhat diminished it, and hopefully having food in her stomach would help as well.
Just then a Caitian dressed mostly in blue came in, head buried in his padd. He just got himself a regular cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll. He loved his sweets after all. As he searched for a table he couldn't help but notice someone reading a physical newspaper. "Great article." he found himself saying
Cassie suddenly cast her gaze at the person addressing her, then smiled. "K'mitt has a certain style, I must admit. He's also one of the few journalists to report current events in an unbiased way, in my opinion." She folded the paper and laid it on the table. "I'm Cassie, by the way. Please, sit," she said, gesturing to one the chairs around the table. The place, in the few minutes she has been reading, had filled up rather quickly.
"Nice to meet you, Cassie." the Caitian said, taking the offered seat."My name's K'mitt." he grinned
"Oh goodness, I am so sorry. I didn't even recognize you," she apologized, blushing in embarrassment.
"It's all good." he laughed a little. "I'm flattered actually. I like to meet people like this. When I'm not in "press mode"."
Cassie chuckled. "Press mode, I like that. I've noticed most of your colleagues left the station after the press conference was given a couple of days ago. What's holding you here?"
"Assigned to the starship Majestic. Like a correspondent sort of. " he said, taking a sip of coffee. "Nice change of pace."
Cassie took a sip of her own. "Well then. What better way to keep me on my best behaviour than have a member of the press on the ship?"
K'Mitt kind of chuckled. "Yeah." He grinned.
"I'm the civilian diplomat on that very same ship, as it happens," she responded. "But being a reporter, I assume you've done a little digging."
"Not too much yet. But I'm always hunting. " he said. "So far I've got met you and the Captain after all."
"That's all?" Cassie asked. She finished her café au lait and rose from her chair. "Come on then. I'm due back on the ship anyway, let me show you around."
"Definitely sounds like a plan, Cassie. Lead on." The caitian grinned.
