Sandy was sitting in sickbay with a cup of tea and a padd with a list of people that still had to do their physical. She was leaving through it and called up their medical files on her computer screen. She took a sip from her tea as she made some notes on her padd.

Then she put her cup down as she came across a name on the list. She tapped her fingers on her desk for a moment. She then tapped her badge. "Sickbay to security, Lieutenant Rai, please report to sickbay immediately, it's very urgent."

Fortunately, security overrides could be used to make turbolift journeys a much speedier option. Jex made the journey to Sickbay in just about a minute. With her hand on her phaser, the half-Betazoid rushed through the doors. Her mind was ready for anything, Sickbay alarms had the potential to be some of the most dangerous.

Not seeing an obvious threat, Jex stood a little more at ease. The only thing that she could see was the doctor, calmly sitting quietly, sipping coffee with a PADD in hand. "What is the emergency?" she asked the doctor, a clearly confused look on her face.

Sandy got up calmly and said, "Well, you are, I just found out you haven't done your physical yet. And before you give the preach about responsibility, let me remind you, that I make no joking matters about physical exams." She looked serious before going back to her warm smile. "I promise to never call an emergency for physicals, if you promise to be here on time for your next physical." She then poured a cup of tea. "Tea?" She put the tea pot down. "So glad we could have this conversation."

Breathing a sigh of relief, Jex let down her guard. "You're right," she acknowledged, "I require my staff to regularly maintain their weapons and the security systems, and our bodies are just as important." Looking around at the emptiness of the medical facility, Jex shook her head, "I better not have caffeine before my physical. I have some time if you can squeeze me in?"

"Ah, well your in luck, my schedule is wide open right now. And this is herbal tea. But no rush." She took her tricorder and walked over the security chief and started to scan her. She then put the tricorder aside and too a padd and looked on it, and made some notes. "Now, lieutenant, how are we feeling today? Anything I should know that's not in your medical record?"

“I have no complaints,” Jex started. Then, maybe in how she turned her neck, she added, “I do have a bit of a cramp in my neck. I think maybe I slept in the wrong position.” It was nothing to worry about, but she felt a bit awkward not having anything to point out to the doctor.

Sandy scanned the neck and shoulder area of the security area. "It does look like it is strained. I will give you something for the pain and get the muscles loosen't. It's should feel better in a couple of hours." She took a hypospray and set it. She then administered the medicine. She put the hypospray away. "Don't be afraid to use it." She then looked around before looking at Jex again. "Well, if there is nothing else, I see no reason why I should keep you here."

"Thanks, doctor, that's usually my line," Jex returned with a grin. She rubbed the site of the hypospray gently as she added, "It already feels much better." Her almost black eyes sort of scanned Sickbay for a moment before she asked, "When you called an emergency earlier, it made me think. If there really was an emergency here, would we be able to get here on time?"

Sandy followed the look. "You were here pretty quick I must say, but it wouldn't hurt to put that to the test. You are welcome to schedule up some simulations to see how your team works."

"I just happened to be near a turbolift," Jex pointed out. "I think that would be a good idea, simulations would get our staffs used to seeing each other. This being a diplomatic ship, something tells me that we will be paired together fairly often," she smiled, trying to get off on the right foot.

"Maybe we could pitch it to the first officer? What do you think?" Sandy asked. "I think it's a great idea." Sandy smiled. "Looking forward to our missions together."

"Of course, I can set up a meeting with Commander Th'aziavak," Jex nodded. "Something tells me that we will see some pretty interesting features.

"I can't wait," Sandy said with a warm smile. "Come to think of it, I think I could set up some simulations for my team as well."

"There are so many choices, containment failure, belligerent patient, hostile guests..." Jex could have gone on, but didn't want her excitement to have something to do get the best of her.

Sandy nodded. "Well, maybe we should talk to the commander first and maybe we can set up a schedule."
