Jane sat at one of the windows in her ready room and stared out into space. They were moving again so the stars in the distance seemed like little blurs of color. But her thoughts were so far from just enjoying the scenery. Strange things had occurred on her ship and then just as quickly as they had come, they'd stopped.
First the visions of themselves or apparitions or whatever they were. Then the nacelle shutting down like that, some kind of fuel problem. She'd begun to think they were stuck in a temporal anomaly but once the problem had been fixed there were no more apparitions, no more troubles with the engines. Everything had run so smoothly. They were enroute to Sozon II and were told the Emperor would be happy to receive them.
She supposed she shouldn't dwell on it. The universe had decided to be nice for once. Jane just wished she'd completely understood the issue before the gods had fixed it for her. In the back of her mind she couldn't help but wonder if this was going to come back and bite them in the future. Maybe if she didn't pull on that thread, then the universe wouldn't unravel. Rising to get a cup of tea, she smiled a little bit as she looked back toward her desk. "Don't question it Jas, maybe its decided it likes you." She could see her husband saying those words and her reply. "What does?"
He would have answered with a shrug of his shoulders and maybe a coy smile back at her. "The universe."
