Cruel Meridian

Though he had followed along with the reports generated by the ship's systems as the Majestic pulled the unknown shuttle into the shuttlebay, Commander Hanover still felt the unease of not having the full picture of the situation nagging at him in the back of his mind as he made his way to the observation lounge from the bridge. It was another small meeting between officers, which normally wouldn't draw much suspicion except that the frequency of the meetings was increasing. Given the small size of the crew, Jared knew that the rumors would be spreading, and he intended to make a point out of getting more information ship-wide out of this meeting.
As he walked through the doorway, the figure of Captain Saulitis was outlined in the observatory window, surrounded by the same speckling of stars that had become so familiar to them for however long they had been stuck inside the anomaly. The frustration of having something so simple as time wretched out of their grasp and beyond their control or comprehension was beginning to seep into Jared's psyche, but the veteran officer knew that if he was feeling it, so too were the others. He and his cloud of thoughts sat down quietly at the table and were only interrupted by the arrival of Lieutenant Commander Sommers.
Lhaes carried a large mug of coffee as he entered the observation lounge, figuring he might need it. Placing his PADD on the table in front of him, he eased himself down in his seat, and waited.
Jane sat down at the table, exhausted from the days events but she felt she really needed to have this meeting. A few select officers, sworn to secrecy, had plunged into finding a way out through the information they'd found on the computer in Hak's shuttle and were now ready to present an idea.
Dominic took his normal seat with his PADD in hand. He looked over the table nodding to those present before shifting his gaze to the Captain.
She waited until everyone arrived to ask, "Well? I assume someone must have found something useful?" That sounded cynical. Was she losing it?
"Our database has no information on the shuttle," Lhaes offered, "the only reason I recognize it as intelligence is because of my prior ah... occupation." He frowned as he looked at his captain. "My... son in law... is a man of mystery ma'am.."
"Nor should it. Hak's career wouldn't allow such a thing and we shouldn't even speculate as what the ship does or where it's been." Jane replied, surprised that Lhaes had even tried such a thing.
Vannan came in ; managing to change into a pressed uniform, a PADD in hand to take her seat at the table.
"Captain, Commander." She greet with a smile.
She gave a single nod of her head and looked down at her hands again. She wanted to get this over, get them out of this anomaly or whatever it was and get down to sickbay to be there when Hak woke up.
"Glad you could join us Lieutenant. Please tell me you have some good news about getting us out of here?"
The doors opened again, this time to reveal Hak. "Save your breath," he said, catching Jane's eye and smirking. "Released myself, against medical advice. But we have bigger problems right now." He looked over to Vannan, who it seemed had the room's attention before he arrived. "Carry on, please..."
Vannan gave her typical smile as she dialed up a Holographic image of the Majestic slowly totating on the central X/ Y axis.
"Well..." She focused on the secondary Hull , forward section. "As you know we were pulled into an anomaly, and we have some good readings." She slowed the rotation and emphasized Forward most section. "If Science can locate the latent readings of one not in the visible range we have to get it ... well, unlocked in a manner of speaking. The deflector Dish; not many realize the vast uses of the dseflector. Most think it is for stopping micro-particles from impacting and ripping the guts out of the ship rather than being the Communications."
She put back the full view of the ship.
"Now what usually open wormholes?" Vannan relayed. "High energy; like a lock in the door; setting the Deflector to the proper wavelength should help detect and; under the right conditions, anchor us to the Anomoly. " She looked up. "The deflector dish output is substancial; there are historical refernces of sufficent power from a Galaxy class to destroy ; in theory, a Borg cube in one shot."
The ship image had a cube appear and the output of the dish emits a beam that shatters the holographic cube.
"In anther theory if we generate enough power we could open it and maybe utilize it as a cable to pull us imto the anomly or at least make a portal and fly through, that would work in all simulations I tried.?" She explained. "It will be science that locates and gives me the wavelength for adapting. I just give you the Opening we need once we find it... Sirs."
Jane turned to Hak, "This is where I was hoping you could come in. And why I had your ship . . . . looked at. If we knew where you came in or any readings from it we might be able to figure out exactly where to go out."
"I was running some spacial scans before the runabout entered... whatever anomaly this is. So, if my data will help, I would be willing to hand that over," Hak nodded at Jane's suggestion.
"I believe your data will help," Lhaes answered, "any information we add to ours, especially outside information may help us get out of this anomaly sooner."
"The key thing that this Deflector dish needs is a wavelength to adjust the harmonics , like the shielding I can adapt it as required Sirs." Vannan put in. Would there be residual radiation on the ship that could help hint at anything?"
Commander Hanover mulled over the conceptual implementation that had been presented, resisting the need to run the calculations himself and instead choosing to place his trust in one of the ship's senior officers. It was a lesson that he had been slow to learn as he had been promoted through the years, but facing such uncertainty as they were now, he knew that the crew of the Majestic was their best shot at coming up with a solution before they ran out of fuel and time.
"Lieutenant Vannan, excellent work here. With some cooperation between yourself, Commander Murphy, and our. . . guest, I think this is our best shot at finding our way out, captain."
"Brilliant," Jane replied wanting to rise to her feet and just get started with this. "Let's do it. Any objections or further questions?"
Hanover simply shook his head.
