Timeline: MD002 1015
650 words - 1.3 OF Standard Post Measure

After visiting sickbay, Kav made his way to the bridge. He was hoping to meet the captain before assuming his duties. He stood in the turbo lift, and focused on the humming noise. The doors swished open, he looked around on the bridge which was a buzz of activity. He then noticed the captain. He stepped towards the center floor was at. He stood at attention. "Lieutenant junior grade Kav, reporting for duty, Captain." He said calm.

Jane looked up at the use of her title. She was only refered to as Captain because she was in command of a starship, not because she had earned that rank yet. "Welcome Lieutenant." She eyed him carefully wondering if he wanted more conversation. If so they could step into her ready room. Jane stood up assuming the answer was yes and after giving the bridge to her first officer gestured for Kav to enter her office. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

Kav walked behind his commanding officer. He looked around and then said calmly, "A glass of water, please." He said. He kept standing looking around the office. Holding his hands behind his back. Then he said, "Thank you, captain. I came here to report to duty. Unless you have something to discuss."

There was always something to discuss it seemed like. Jane thought she spent most of her time talking and she'd never considered herself an extrovert but it came with the job. She handed Kav the glass of water. "How are you settling in on the ship? Any issues since you've been on board?"

Kav took the glass with both hands and held it a moment. "Thank you, captain. I am settling in just fine. No problems that I am aware off. I have been to sickbay prior to coming here. I am glad to inform you that the doctor deems me fit for duty." Of course that wasn't what the captain was after, but he wasn't that good with small talk, so he thought he would go with that. He then took a sip to allow the captain to answer.

"Excellent." Jane smiled at him. "Have you been assigned quarters yet?" She wasn't the one who did such things but she could at least check. "How soon would like you to begin your duties? I'm hoping that we'll be underway as soon as possible."

"I have been informed the location of my quarters and that my belongings were brought there. I have yet to go there, sir. And I can begin my duties as soon as we can go." He said as he took another sip from his water. "I believe I have more than enough time to get settled in."

"Well you have some time, we aren't planning on leaving until 1700 hours. I will see you on the bridge then." She said that in a dismissive tone. "Oh, and if you wouldn't mind introducing yourself to Ambassador Vayr, he would like to meet all the senior officers. He's taken an interest in how Starships are run."

Kav nodded to Jane. "Yes, Captain. I will introduce myself to Ambassador Vayr. Would I be giving him a briefing of my job as well?" His question was sincere, as Kav never joked in front of his superior officer. He just wanted to be thorough.

"I'm not sure to be honest, but it would be helpful to answer any questions he brings to you. For the sake of diplomacy." Jane straightened up. "Please let me know if there's anything else I can do for you." She offered her hand again. "My door is always open. Good day Lieutenant."

Kav nodded, "Thank you, captain. And I will see what I can do." He put his glass down and then walked out of the door.
