Meeting with the XO over and done with, Lhaes now headed towards his second stop of the day. Being a medic himself he knew the importance of checking in and reporting for one's initial physical. He made it a priority to get those over and done with when he was reassigned. Especially since he was Romulan, and the amount of Romulans in starfleet was quite scarce, he considered it vital for those required to treat him, to at least have some semblance of a normal reading for him.

"Good morning doctor," he called cheerfully, while looking around. "I'm here for my boarding physical."

Sandy walked out of her office with a tricorder. She wasn't really expecting anyone right now as everyone was busy with the pre launch. She was as well. She had planned to do a complete check up on sickbay so that would be out of the way when they would launch.

She walked to Lhaes. "Oh hello, I am Sandra Adamson, Doctor, chief medical.." She introduced herself, being a bit nervous. "I didn't really expect anyone, but since you're here, we could do this." She looked to the tricorder in her hand. "And look I have a tricorder here." She laughed a bit. "So, who are you, sir, so I know whose file I can take before me? And I don't know all the crew yet, I just got here."

"Lhaes Sommers," the Romulan in grey answered, his light eyes sparkling, "I've just arrived too though it's my job to get to know people before I meet them." He didn't offer her a hand in greeting, firmly keeping both hands linked behind his back. "And yes ma'am I do believe we can do this, it's what I'm here for." He glanced around at the pristine medical bay. "Where do you want me?"

"Nice to meet you. Have a seat on a bio bed. Any would be fine, as you can see there is no one here." She could tell he was an experienced officer as well as Romulan. He clearly didn't hide that fact. She opened her tricorder to start the physical. She calibrated it for Romulans.
She started to scan him. "So as a physician I must ask if you have any medical problems I should be made aware of that is not in your medical file?"

"Any medical issue is in my file and viewable at your discretion," Lhaes offered as he hopped onto the bed, "as well as any medication you can or can't give me." He sobered ever so slightly. "There also several antidotes listed in my file, as a safety measure. I dearly hope you'll never have to use them but just in case I have them listed. What is important however is that I'm allergic to milk substances."

She closed her tricorder. "Well, I can't find anything wrong with you, you are a healthy Romulan. I will make a note in your medical file. Isn't there anything I should be made aware of, symptoms you want me to look in to. Something you want to tell me in confidence?" She grinned nervously.

Arching an eyebrow at her, he shrugged. "I'm a single father of three, born and raised on Betazed by Betazoid parents. Other than me fainting after extensive use of my empathic skill and passing out after a mind meld, I don't think there's anything of note?" He grinned, leaning forward slightly. "I'm a doctor too," he whispered at her.

"Oh," Her interest was now peaked. "What is your field of expertise, doctor?" She pointed to her officer. "Maybe we could continue our conversation in my office? That is if you have some time. Wouldn't want to keep you from your work or your children. I don't have children, but I imagine it must be hard work being a single dad."

"General medicine, I never specialized." He hopped off the bed and followed her into the office. "Being a single father and juggling three young children and my duties can be quite a task but I've been doing it on my own pretty much from the start. Thankfully, the twins aren't that much of a handful anymore. Juggling two babies now there's a challenge."

"I can only imagine." She walked to the replicator. "Would you like something to drink? And please, sit down on my couch, make yourself at home." She smiled as she waited for his replicator order.

Taking a seat, the Romulan smiled up at her. "Tea please. And I do have time, a holo nanny is watching my family. Oh that reminds me...do you also doctor pets, if needed?"

"Oh you have pets? How nice. I have a cat myself. And yes, I had a veterinary course on the side, not sure if it would come in handy. My Rockey is still in perfect health. Probably because I take good care of him." She smiled. "Why? Is something up with your pet?"

"I have two cats, females..." Lhaes chuckled, shaking his head. "No there's nothing up with them but I just want to make sure. Mine are called Hackles and Mittens, a little joke from my sister, who gave them to me when they were kittens."

"It is good to hear they are well, sir. I do have a basic knowledge of veterinary, and the starfleet medical database has a treasure on information in that area." She walked over with his tea and gave it to him. then she went to get her own drink. She sat down on the couch. "So taking care of kids and pets and have a star fleet career. Sounds like a very busy life."

"I'm managing," Lhaes smiled, "though I've never hesitated to call for help if I need any. The cats can amuse themselves, they are very self reliant. Surely you noticed with yours?"

"Yes I have," She smiled taking a sip from her ice tea.

"Do you have a family with you doctor?" the intelligence chief asked, while sipping his own tea.

"Well, aside from Rockey, I am alone here," She said. "I don't know many people. Well, I know you now. I should get myself acquainted with the captain and her first officer as well. We haven't had the time yet. Pre launch is one of the busiest times."

"I have met with the first officer prior to reporting here," Lhaes offered, "he seems like a capable officer to me." He chuckled. "Though I do find Andorians amusing, they are such an open book, emotionally."

"That's good to know," she replied. "I had an Andorian instructor. I got the feeling he was rather somewhere else. Maybe that's why he instructed shuttle crafts 101." She chuckled.

"Did his antennae give him away?" Lhaes peered over his cup at the woman, eyes sparkling with amusement.

"That," she said, "and the fact he was constantly looking at the chronometer."

"Yes that's usually a clear indicator. Unless of course he was somehow measuring something but that's highly unlikely. Oh...there's something else I need to discuss with you..." He lowered his cup, expression sobering a little. "I'd like your permission to run the occasional shift, to keep my medical license valid. Is that alright with you?"

"I am sure we could put you somewhere," She smiled. "I haven't made anything close to a department roster yet, but will add you to the list."

"Thank you ma'am. You can always page me in case of an emergency." He paused. "Do you have any further questions for me?"

She shrugged, "I think I have everything for now. Do you have any questions?"

"No ma'am," the Romulan answered pleasantly. "Am I cleared for duty?"

"Well, yes, sir, you are," Sandy said. "You may go if you want."

"Ma'am," Lhaes said as he slid off the bed and deftly slid back into the shadows and out of sickbay. It was time to get back into some old habits.
