Beata stretched herself out on the sand with a contented sigh. She was alone now and it actually felt nice to be left alone with her thoughts. She had a lot to think about since Jenkins had been arrested on the ship. Her involvement had spread like wildfire though Stef had done as best he could to tell people off for staring at her. His protectiveness amused her.
The sun was starting to set and she watched it slowly move downward. Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention and she turned to see Dr. Adamson approaching. "Hello Doctor." Beata called out to her.
Sandy saw Beata laying down in the sand. She smiled. "Hello, ensign, are you also hiding from a vulcan?" She stopped next to her. "May I sit with you?" She asked politely.
"No," Beata thought that was rather a funny thing to say but she wondered why the doctor had said it. "Stef is just off exploring at the moment. I think he saw some kind of rabbit."
She sat down in the sand and looked to the sea. She took in the salty sea air. "Well, I am just hiding from Sekat. I like him a lot, but maybe I am trying to avoid the inevitable. Facing ones own fears the hardest thing you can do."
"What fear is that?" Beata asked carefully. "Commitment? Love?" She could think of quite a few things that were scary about a new relationship.
Sandy chuckled. "Nothing like that. Since I was young I have been afraid of the dark. Sekat has been so kind to help me get over that fear. He offered to start tonight. I am kind of nervous."
"Ahhh, well he'll be there with you right? I don't imagine anything could happen. I think Marga III is a pretty safe place." Beata grinned at what she'd done while on the planet, her naked beach bathing with Stef.
Sandy nodded. "Yes, he will be there. I can still be nervous about it, right? Maybe I just need to find the courage."
"Absolutely you can be nervous and I'm not at all a counselor, but if I gave you advice it would be not to let the nervousness prevent you from doing it. You can be absolutely terrified but you might learn to enjoy yourself, you don't want to regret not going."
Sandy smiled, "That's not bad advice actually." She thought about that a moment. She has been going around with thise fear for so long, it was hard for her to imagine going to be without it anymore. She turned back to Beata. "So what have you been doing here, ensign?" She asked curious and changing the subject.
Beata almost blushed at being asked. "Spending time with Stef. We went swimming and then we visited a resort with a private beach." She was sure the doctor could extrapolate what they might have done just from those things though they hadn't actually gotten physical other than kissing.
"Ah, that is very nice," Said Sandy, smiling. She looked to the descending sun. "Maybe it is time to go back?" She asked.
"Yeah, we probably should." Beata glanced around wondering where Stef had wandered off to. "Maybe he went back to the ship ahead of me? Oh well." She said, not really concerned about it. "I've enjoyed this planet a lot, it will be a shame to leave it."
