True to his word, Patrick made his way down to sickbay, however the closer he got, the slower his pace was. Once the doors opened before him and he crossed the threshold, he hesitated, fear gripping him once more.
He grimaced and shook his head. "No," he said to himself, forcing another step forward, "I said I'd do this...so I'll do this. This is childish, foolish... I'm not a child, I can do this...." He forced himself to walk towards the CMO's office. "Doctor Adamson, are you in?"
The moment Sandy saw Paddy walk in, she jumped up from her seat and walked out of her officer. "Mister O'Malley, yes, I am in. Are you alright?" She asked curious. She hoped everything was alright. She hadn't expected him back so soon. Ever since the start of the shoreleave, everything was good enough for him not to come by.
"Yes ma'am, I think so," Patrick answered with a nervous smile. This place just continued to give him the creeps, he couldn't help it. "But I've not really had all the rest you told me to have. I um...did have quite a bit of exercise. So I wanted to make sure I didn't overdo anything, or undid any of your work. I'm not in pain, but it's not wholly comfortable either..."
"Of course, no problem." Sandy replied. "Have a seat on one of the biobeds. I will get a tricorder. Would you like a refreshment or something. I may not be as good as you are, but I am sure I can work a replicator." She smiled warmly.
"Ah..no thank you," the young man answered, moving over to one of the beds. "We went to the beach the first week, so we did lot of swimming," he explained, pretty sure he didn't need to explain that wasn't all what happened. "We went to a resort," he added, "got.me quite a tan. I don't think I got any sunburn though..."
The doctor nodded as she went to get a tricorder. When she got back she started to scan him. "Well, I am pretty sure you would have noticed somehow if you had sunburn." She looked on the tricorder and punched a few buttons. "Aside from the normal stress, I don't see anything serious. It's nothing a good night's rest can cure."
Patrick blushed at that. "What about cooking? Can I start cooking again?"
"Sure," Sandy said. "Just make sure you get plenty of rest and fluids. And don't over exert yourself." She continued explaining. "I'll have Tarria keep an eye on you." She smiled.
Patrick wasn't looking forward to being tailed by the over excited Andorian but he nodded anyway. "I think I've had enough exercise for a little while," he smiled, "I'll be easy, don't worry. I don't want Murph to get mad at me for overdoing things either. I always drink plenty while I'm in the kitchen, and I'll be sure to sleep a full night. No late night cooking, I promise."
Sandy smiled. "I trust you will. Tarria will be on the bar anyways. She will just be checking in on you now and then." She put the tricorder away. "Well, you are all fine, you can go home now."
Hopping off the bed, Patrick smiled. "Thank you doctor." He gave her a quick hug. "For everything."
Sandy was a bit surprised by this reaction, but she hugged him back none the less. "You're welcome, Mister O'Malley."
