The New 'Majestic' couple

Taking a stroll along the Promenade of Deep Space 9, Jack was enjoying this little bit of rest time he had between assignments with his Girl on his arm. While DS9's Promenade was no outdoors market, it had a similar feel all of its own. Spotting the tailors shop, Jack pointed over towards it, "wanna see what they've got? maybe something a little exotic?"

"Just how exotic?" giving a light laugh. Pearl was feeling pretty good at this time. Jack having come into her life, truly changed it for the better. "Have I told you lately how much I love you and I am so glad we met? " pulling him in for a quick kiss and embrace.

"I could stand to hear it more" Jack said, hugging Peral tightly as they walked along the promenade. Their sudden transfer to this new assignment was a little jarring, but at least they were moved together and not separated as Starfleet has often done before to other coupled serving together. "looking forward to settling in on this new ship? I've heard the Sovereign class is quite a sight to behold"

"I've heard it described as such as ell." Pearl giving a giggle, leaning her head against Jack's shoulder. "I wonder what the Captain is going to be like, I've not heard much about him if any, though I've not actually asked around either. Either way I am excited for this new opportunity"

"Well, where ever we go, so long as we're together I'm sure it will be fine. Hopefully this engineering department is as squared away as our last assignment."

"We will soon find out right? I do wonder about the what the security team will be like as well. This will be a whole new world for us. And who knows what we'll face when we join this crew." giving a warm embrace. "You know we can do a bit more shoppng here or we head to the ship and get signed on? Maybe the Captain will see us both? Since we are a couple."

"Hey, why not. let's head for the ship. I'm sure we can do the shopping before the ship departs" Jack answered, returning the hug with a kiss on her forehead.

"I am sure that we can." Pearl giving a laugh. She linked her arm with his and gave an impish grin. "We're off to see the Captain" in a sing song voice the tune was 'We're off to see the Wizard'.

The Ready Room

Elijah was working on some paper work logging down the changes in the command structure. He needed a replacement for Operations as Siora got transferred off the ship. He hoped to find someone to take her place, before the ship proceeded on its next destination. He placed his elbows upon the desk top, his face pillowed in the palm of his hands, trying to rub away the headache he could feel coming on.

He muttered softly "would be rather lovely if someone were to come up as a late arrival and sign on to the ship."

Just then, the door chime sounded, cutting into Elijah’s thoughts

"Enter!" Elijah called out.

Stepping into the ready room as the doors opened, Jack strode over to stand in the other side of the desk from Elijah with Pearl one step behind and one step to the left of him, “Captain, Lieutenant Jack MacGyver reporting for duty as an engineering officer”

Engineering, hope he will be willing to take up the role of Chief Operations. It was stated he had held that position before. Elijah smiled, having noticed the woman with Jack standing to one side. "Who is the lady near you?"

Giving a smile, Jack took a step to one side and motioned for Pearl to introduce herself.

"I am Ensign Pearl Bijoux." Giving a salute, "I am in security." she offered up a half smile. "I used to be a marine, but that is another story." she added in the end.

"Would you like something to drink? And I have something to speak to you about." Elijah motioning for both Jack and Pearl to have a seat.

"I'll go for some tea if you would please, Captain." Pearl taking a seat. "Uh... Earl Grey if you would please. "

"I'll take an Irish Coffee please Captain" Jack asked as he carefully took a seat, becoming suspicious about what exactly he could want to talk to him about so soon after reporting in.

Eliljah brought over the requested items, having his own drink on his desk. "Okay, I know that you have been assigned to go into Engineering, however I am in need of a Chief Operations officer. I do know that by your record, you had been a department head of Operations. Would you be willing to step in that role once more for this ship? I know that it is unfair to ask this of you but, I truly need someone."

Pearl almost choked on her tea, remembering how excited Jack was when he got to go into the position of engineer.

Hearing this request, Jack’s suspicious look changed to one that could only be described as ‘you’ve got to be kidding’. While he didn’t mind, truthfully, he was looking forward to a little less responsibility and a little more time with Pearl on this ship. However, if this is what Starfleet needed, who was he to refuse. Giving a sigh, Jack gave a shrug, “yea sure, why not. It seems the universe just wants me in that position”

Elijah raised an eyebrow Jack's comment, "I take it, this has happeneed before." a statement not a question. "Maybe the universe is saying you are needed in that capacity here. Thank you for your acceptance of the position change. We are getting ready to embark on our next mission."

"Just in time then." Pearl responded.

"so it seems" Jack said, giving a shrug, "on my last assignment, I was transferred from Engineering to Operations and not long after I became Ops Chief through promotion. I was just hoping for an easier assignment here, but I'm here now"

Elijah regarded Jack and Pearl, "I don't know what you faced on your other assignment, however, I do know that you have a good team here on the Majestic. Take your time to get to know them and you'll see that you won't be shouldering the whole load by yourself."

Pearl liked the sound of that. She remembered what it was like on that other ship. It was a mess.

"will do Sir. I'm sure the operations staff are up to snuff" Jack replied with a smile, "so, is there any issues I should be aware of?"

Elijah thought for a moment. "There was in the records of the Majestic, a mention of this ship having had gone into a Parallel Universe and I would like for you to check on the status of the ship's systems. Who knows what sort of anomoly could be in the system. Plus, we have had some sentient holo people that have been on the ship as well. And something else that you both may find interesting, there is a metallic dragon in Cargo Bay Eight. His name is Guardian."

"a metallic dragon? you're kidding right?" Jack asked, that last point sticking out to him as the strangest one. "what the....? Is it some kind of construct?"

"Yes and sentient, we've been working on solving the puzzle of where he came from and who made him. It is a rather intriguing situation. And he was attached to an ancient stasis chamber which held our diplomatic officer in it." Elijah stated.

"stasis chamber? Did we take that with us as well or was that left behind?" Jack asked, his interest in alien tech starting to stir itself up. "Was there any writing on the chamber?"

"Yes we have the chamber and I don't remember if there is writing on the chamber itself. The person that can answer those questions would be the ACMO, Lieutenant Lily Marlow. She is one of the ones who had the most experience both with Guardian and the stasis chamber. We also have onboard as our diplomatic officer, T'seng who was the person in the stasis chamber, being watched over by Guardian. "

"hmm, I wonder why they were in a stasis chamber. Did the diplomat do something" Jack asked, thinking more to himsel

"She had a condition with her heart, which at that time couldn't be treated. The stasis chamber she was in previously had developed problems so she was placed in the ancient stasis chamber to save her life. This chamber had allowed her connection to the station's system on a limited basis. Keeping her neural system active, giving her a sort of life and activity. I don't quite understand all of the details, but imagine living a life in sort of a holographic world. The Station it being run by holograms was the ideal place for her to have some sort of life." taking a sip of his tea, Elijah placed the cup down. "Her being in that situation, helped this crew to escape the clutches of that insane AI, Adna."

Pearl shuddered at hearing that. "Well now, that is a bit insane for that happening."

Jack nodded, "It makes sense though. Interfacing an organic mind with an advanced computer system would allow for the mind to be kept intact in one form or another while the body remains frozen. It's a little old school, but I suppose it still works"

"Whatever works is the best thing if it keeps a person alive and well." Elijah giving a nod. "You will get to have a gander at the ancient stasis chamber and maybe figure out more than what we even know about said piece of tech. Perhaps the librarian we've got on the ship might be able to give some information as well."

"Maybe. Is there anything else I should know about?" Jack asked

Elijah thought for a moment or two then shook his head. "At this time I don't know of anything else. How about I let you both go get settled in your quarters, and get familiarized with the ship. I know it wasn't what you wanted to have happen, you being Chief of Operations, but I do appreciate that you are willing to take upon the role."

"Well it's between taking the position or an early retirement, and i'm too young to give up this wonderful life just yet" Jack said, looking over at Pearl, "Maybe if and when we have few kids"

Pearl was a bit surprised but not unpleasantly so. She hadn't discussed having kids with him but, that gave her food for thought. It might be nice down the road to have kids. And not be the sort of parents her father and mother were like. Just the thought of their kids, having a stable home and not worry about being left behind, it appealed to her. "Thank you Captain, much obliged." she linked her arm with Jack's as they prepped to leave the Ready Room. This ship was already proving to be one more pleasant than last one. Well there was the bright points there. Meeting Jack and also having met David Scarlet.

"Thank you Captain, I'll make sure operations is squared away" Jack said as he stood up with Pearl and the two of them left arm in arm.
