Mission:
A Dragon named Guardian
Location: Operations Area
1664 words - 3.3 OF Standard Post Measure
Camelia hid a yawn behind the back of her hand, she had been working some long hours making certain that had housed the holo-sentients was running proper. Now though she had the task of cleaning it up and making certain there wasn't any residue of the sentients in the programming. She looked at the roster to see what was needed next to be done. There was also an indication that there was a new person or wait two new persons that have arrived on the ship. A Lieutenant Goldie Brown, as Assistant Chief of Operations and then there is a Lieutenant MacGyver as Chief of Operations?
"Computer, what is the location of Lieutenant Brown and Lieutenant MacGyver? " Camelia was hoping that they would be arriving soon to Operations.
"Lieutenant Brown is in the transporter room," the computer replied.
That would be her first stop, Transporter room next would be meeting up with MacGyver. Camelia sent off a message to the new department head, =^=Sir would you please meet me in the transporter room, if possible this is Lieutenant Zamfir=^=

The door opened up and Camelia stepped inside, taking a look around, her eyes settling upon the woman there. "Hello there."
Goldie was on the transporter platform with a hyperspanner. When she heard the voice, she turned around. "Oh, hi. Can I help you?" She recognized the color of the uniform, but wasn't sure if the woman needed anything or if she was here to see what she herself was up to. "I'm looking for the source of a funny noise, so I thought I'd check the pads themselves as that's where the tricorder said the sound was coming from."
Just then, Jack climbed out of a nearby Jefferies tube, stood up straight, dusted himself down before looking over at the two women, "hello there"
This person Goldie did recognize. She waved her hyperspanner in greeting. "Hello, lieutenant." She made one more adjustment and checked her tricorder. Then she nodded and stood. "That should do it. Hopefully."
"I am Lieutenant Zamfir, part of the Operations Team. I figured that I'd come meet you both. " the blonde woman, with striking green eyes giving a tired smile. "I've been covering Gamma Shift."
"Gamma shift is fun." Goldie grinned, then giggled. "It's more laid back than Alpha. We get the work done, but there's a little more joking around as we do it."
"I am glad that you both are here, it’s a relief so, where did you both serve before coming to the Majestic? " Camelia taking a seat upon the floor making herself comfortable.
"Me? I was on the Galileo," Goldie replied. "It's a science ship."
"Ah Science ship I've been on one before." Camelia giving a smile. Turning her gaze to Jack, " How about you? Where did you serve before signing on to the Majestic?"
"hmm? oh, I was at Utopia Planitia for most of my career, than I was sent to the USS Merlin and now I'm here. not the most exciting journey, but it had its moments"
"Were you always in Operations? Or have you been in something else?" Of course, Camelia was interested in finding out about those she will be working with. After all she wasn't always in Operations.
"No, I was trained as an engineer. Yet, in spite of all my efforts, it seems that the universe wants me to be an operations officer. either way, I’m just your average grease monkey with a wrench in my hand and a song in my heart"
"I wasn't always in Operations. It was my second classification. My first... I don't know if I want or even should say much about it. " Camelia going silent as she pondered over her comment. She may have been stopped being in Intelligence for the most part but, she might be called back into play when needed.
"You don't have to," Goldie replied. "Not if you don't want to. We all have things in our past we don't want to talk about."
"This is very true." Camelia giving a nod. "Now that we are here together, how are things going on in getting to know others of the crew? I feel that I am just barely scratching the surface of those on this ship."
"I've met a couple people on the bridge, and a few more in ops, but beyond that, I really haven't had much time to meet people." Goldie shrugged. She was normally friendly and outgoing, but there'd been a lot to do since coming aboard.
"This is a big ship so there have been projects to work on. I had found indication of something having tried to make its way onto the ship. An unauthorized program, trying to send out a feeler and see if there were some flaws in the ship's security programs. Luckily the ship security system had been updated." Camelia being rather serious about this.
"Really? That's unusual. Did they find what the program was and enhance the security systems?" Goldie asked.
"The security system did get enhanced, and the feeler; that was from Adna Station's AI, who had gone insane. Apparently there had been her desire to become human. Or some sort of facsimile in her own idea of becoming human. I had spoken to Oz and the rest of that group as to what her game was. Indigo, the chef had told of how Adna was trying to get some DNA from the previous Captain of this ship. Indigo managed to distract Adna's construct, to help the Captain get away. Can you imagine being on a station run by holograms?" Camelia drawing up her knees against her chest as she tried to imagine what it would have been like.
"Well..." Goldie drew out the word as she considered how to answer. "It could be interesting--if they weren't insane or trying to take over. How would they interface with the computer? Would they be solid or would they have to have some sort of mental connection? Or would it be strictly verbal? It could be interesting to study as we have holographic technology now."
"From reports I had read it was like being in a Giant Holodeck where, like in the smaller holodecks they were interacted with characters, could touch and feel them. Even the food tasted good. And the injuries that the crew had taken was real. The safety measures were on its lowest settings. Fascinating and also rather worrisome." Camelia stretched out her legs placing her arms behind her to support her seated position. "Lieutenant T'par, Lieutenant Marlow, Lieutenant Sempton were among those who had gone through this. There were others but they won't talk about it."
"The fact that they won't talk about it is a little concerning. I mean, there are no rules that say that what happens on the holodeck stays on the holodeck. So, why is it too traumatic or too secret to talk about?" That was what concerned Goldie most. Why keep quiet? Unless something happened they don't want to talk about--or can't talk about.
"Well from what Glowbug had told me was that to the crew's point of view people were being killed. In quite some distressing ways. One of the people who had left, with his kids he had been bitten by a Vampire and died for all intent and purposes. They had to deal with werewolves and not one of the crew had weapons to defend. This is why most of them don't want to talk about it. There was a bit of trauma that had happened."
Goldie was confused. "I can see that. But why didn't they stop the program? Was there some sort of malfunction? I mean, that had to be it. No one volunteers to stay in a situation like that, right?"
"What I had gathered from the scanned records of the Majestic, there was not any crew upon the station. Adna Station had possibly woken up at the approach of the Majestic. Probably had long range sensors which triggered Adna to wake up. That is my surmising on this part." There was more investigation that Camelia wanted to do but she didn't have the connections to pull the strings even further.
"That's the most likely." Goldie shrugged. It could have been a number of things. But she wasn't there and wasn't going to make any other comments.
"Still a strange occurrence to have happened. Any questions you would like to find out about the ship? I will say this we have an El Aurian on this ship, he is the Librarian. And the Library has three levels. A lot of physical books." Camelia deciding to offer.
Goldie did like books. "How do you fit a three-level library on a starship?"
"Well from what i can tell, it isn't as wide as it is tall. And this ship is rather large. It was like this when I came onboard. Though the upper level is shorter than the rest of the library. its like a loft where you can lay down and feel like you are gazing at the stars, when it is a vid screen reflecting what is outside of the ship." Camelia shared.
"That sounds interesting. I wonder how many people hide out there so they can read all night?" Goldie would have to see that place for herself.
" Well I do at times. but there are probably others that do too as well." Camelia felt a yawn coming to the surface and covered it up with the back of her hand. "Sorry, my bed's a calling me, permission to take myself off to bed?"
Goldie looked over at Lieutenant MacGyver as he was the senior officer.
Jack nodded, "alright, go get some sleep. we'll start fresh in the morning with a new list of daily issues. Dismissed"
