"I don't know what happened to you as a child, it will have to be up to you to tell me at some point in time. I'm just glad that what happened didn't kill you." Lily remarked, "I can teach you some techniques that have been taught to me, so that I can focus on my healing arts. Tai Chi and pressure points." she paused for a moment or two as if to gather her thoughts, then continued. "Another thing I need to let you know is when doing massage therapy, the giver of the massage, makes a connection with the patient's energy flow much like circuitry. Your chi and mine are connected at this moment, which helps to start the healing process. "giving Laural a chance to process what she just said.

“I’m sorry doctor but I’m not very spiritual. If you believe a massage and some tai-chi will help, than I will do as you ask. I trust that you know more about healing than I do” Laural replied, a little confused by all of this talk of Chi and energy. Pressure points she knew well as she often used them to control the movements of a prisoner who was being uncooperative.

Feeling the need to explain about Chi, Lily remarked. "What Chi is, it's the lifeforce of a body. And... When I start the massage our life force connects. It can establish sort of an empathic connection in order for me to work on what seems to be causing you pain, stopping the flow of energy which causes toxins to build up in your body. I am letting you know this before I continue, as there are some after effects when we start treatment. "crouching down to look Laural in the eyes.

"Things that trouble you, will come to the surface. Whatever happened when you were a child, what caused you to not tap into your innate ability as a mixture of your heritage, it may come to the surface. I will be here to help you face it."

Laural sighed, "so long as you keep anything I might say confidential, then I am ready for your treatment"

"All will be confidential. "Lily replied, getting up from the stool, still in contact with Laural, pushing the stool away.

She worked her way first along the shoulders, testing the muscular nature of that area. She had her eyes closed, making a mental scan by touch, of the formations of lactic acid nodules, scar tissue connections noting where bones had been healed properly or not.

Her hands weren't rough, nor were they weak, for a light touch could elicit a reaction like a bug landing on the flesh. "If you would like to converse while I am working on you, you may do so, and is the pressure that I am using too much or too little?"

“Feel free to use whatever level of pressure you feel is needed” Laural replied, feeling an almost tingling sensation as Lily worked on her back, “as for conversation, is there somewhere you’d like me to start?”

"I will go by instincts then." Lily responded, continuing on. "As for somewhere to start, it's up to you. If you have any questions about me, you'd like to ask, or thoughts you have on any subject. Or for that matter, if you don't wish to talk of anything, that is your prerogative. I was just letting you know that during the massage, if you feel like conversing, I am open for that. There are those who are worried that if they talk to the masseuse, the masseuse wouldn't be able to concentrate on her work. Which isn't at all true."

Lily switched to the right side of the massage table, where she could reach the back more easily.

Closing her eyes, Laural let her mind wander until it settled on a subject, "So, have you ever worked on a case like mine before?"

"Meaning, your scarring, or your worry about using your innate abilities. Where the scarring is concerned, I have worked on several people who have had such, but not to the extent you have. Though I did come across a Klingon who didn't want to lose his scars, he looked at me like I had two heads when I suggested that he needed some of the scar tissue to be removed due to it getting in the way of his movement. It took some doing but he allowed me to work on him. I explained to him that if he wanted to use his bat'leth again, I needed to deal with that particular scarring. He agreed when I explained that to him."

"Couldn't you have left the surface scar there anyway? like a tattoo or skin blemish" Laural asked, understanding the Klingon attraction to scars as a sign of honour

"I was able to make sure his badge of honor wasn't taken away, just that the deeper scarring had to be dealt with. Now his scar is flexible for him to wield his weapon." Lily gave a fond chuckle. "His tale was glorious indeed, he fought off several enemies, protecting the ones who were not able to do so themselves, his children. I could hear the pride and love he had for his offspring. I was also able to meet them."

Lily pulled up the left side of the sheet with one hand then, she moved to work on Laural's right arm and shoulder all the way to the finger-tips.

wincing a little as Lily worked over her shoulder, Laural relaxed a little when she moved to her arm, "do you mind if i ask you something personal?"

"Sure, ask away." Lily replied, as she maintained her contact with Laural, and moved to the left side of the table, and covering up the right side.

Taking a deep breath, Laural started searching for the right words, "have you done anything that you now regret doing? Maybe something you would rather never speak of again for not only your sanity but that of others?"

Lily paused in her massage, as she thought over Laural's question. "I do have some regrets, wished I had picked up on things before I had lost a friend who was more like a sister to me. I used to not talk about her, for it pained me to do so, and I thought that, if I continued to do so, it would drive those who cared and loved me, insane. " she resumed her massage, gently worked over the left shoulder and made her way down the arm. "It sounds to me like you have a regret. I'm here and I won't run away."

Laural nodded, “I have a regret. It was while I was at the academy, I was dating a fellow classmate and we were alone in his quarters. Things had been developing for a little while and we felt we were at that point to experiment a little. It started off quite nice, then I don’t know how but my telepathic abilities suddenly decided to kick in and they practically fried his nervous system, sending him into shock. I almost killed him.”

"It sounds to me like you've been having such a tight hold on not using your abilities since you were a child, that when you started to relax with the one you had feelings for your... control slipped." Lily finished up the back massage, and pulled up the sheet to cover Laural's back.

"May I make a suggestion? Even though I don't have the abilities that you have, perhaps we can work something out? Perhaps you will get comfortable with using your telepathy and such. There might be some exercises that you could utilize, or we can come up with something in that aspect." Lily sat on the stool to look into Laural's eyes. "What do you say?"

Laural looked worried, "you did hear what I just said, the last time I 'used' my telepathy, I nearly killed someone. why would you risk yourself like that?"

"Yes, I heard you say that. I also know that you need to work on it as well. What I have in mind, are some things that have been used to help those who are just beginning to use their abilities. Therefore, I have confidence that if the exercises are done in a certain way, you won't fry my brain. It all depends on if you will be willing to do them. "Lily said with a determined look in her eyes.

"I do believe you have some reluctance in seeking some help from those who have the abilities. I think I read that in the medical notes."

Licking her lips nervously, Laural nodded, "alright, give me some time before we start. I think I'll feel better about it if I did some research"

Lily nodded, "I can agree to do that." she said with a smile.
