Homecoming Surprise

Mission: A Day In The Life
Location: Station/Ship

With the Majestic being docked at a space station, awaiting personnel transfers and other supplies needed, Elijah had to get a break from the paperwork that came with the job of being Captain. One thing that helped and which also would be curtailed once the Majestic was underway, would be him personally flying ( unless it was deemed part of a mission.)

Another run to the station via the runabout, he had gotten word that there would be a new Stellar Cartographer. He arrived at the ship, landing the runabout with ease and exited the bay. Elijah tapped into the computer of the station to locate where Ensign Asta Kuzal would be at so he could meet her personally, and take her to the Majestic.

Asta wandered about looking up as if the numbers of the decks would be posted above the door frames like they were on an ancient Earth navy ships. Not that she had been on Earth long, nor was Human. She was trying to find her way around however and had somehow gotten lost in the area of crew quarters. Not senior officers quarters either. Ensigns by the look of the young people who were goofing off and chasing each other around Asta.

Following the direction of the computer, Elijah found Asta, and had to dodge around some of the ensigns. He stopped and stated, "Excuse me! I am looking for Ensign Asta Kuzal." Elijah stated.

Asta's face paled. "That would be me sir." Her bushy dark blonde hair was bound behind her head and her pale skin seemed to make her spots even more pronounced. "Can I help you?"

The other Ensigns had stopped, realizing that there was someone there who had the pips of command.

"Thank you." Elijah replied then turned his attention to Asta. He noticed that her face had gone pale. "Would you come with me please and I am sorry I startled you."

"Yes sir," with a quick glance at the others she followed him. She didn't really know any of the young people around her, having just arrived on the station but everyone there knew what it meant when someone with that rank came to find you. You were in trouble . . .

Once they were sufficiently away from the others , Elijah spoke gently to Asta, "I'm sorry for scaring you, I had gotten word that you would be coming to the Majestic, and well since I am here, I thought I'd come meet you. And even take you to the ship myself." he stopped walking and turned towards Asta. "And forgive me for startling you earlier."

"Oh!" Asta replied surprised. "I didn't realize Majestic was already here. And it's okay sir, I'm a bit jumpy in general. "

Elijah nodded, "Yes she is already here, and good thank you. Did you already unpack your gear for here?" the man asked, with a kind smile. "Hopefully not as I'm ready to get you to the ship, unless you wish to stay on the station. Several of the crew members are taking a slight bit of time off. But only for a couple of days."

"No sir, I hadn't even found my quarters on the station yet, I was wandering around looking when you found me." Asta replied wondering what kind of mission they were off on. Her first mission, to say she was excited was an understatement.

"Well, since you've not found your quarters here, we can get your belongings sent to the ship. This way you can get settled in and do a little exploration of the ship. And meet the others on that are, in science as well as other crew members if you'd like. How does that sound?" Elijah raising one eyebrow at Asta with a questioning look and a small smile.

"Uh very nice sir," Asta answered unsure how to phrase it. Although she had been interested in exploring the station she was much more excited to see her first ship, not that it was hers of course but it would be home for a long while she hoped.

"All right then, lets get that arranged, and I'll give you a flight out to the ship and since we will, like I said , be docked here for a couple of days or so, you'll be able to get yourself situated on the ship and then explore the station." he began walking again as he talked with her.

"Tell me, what are you looking forward to the most when on the ship?" the Capain asked.

"Oh that's easy, discovering new places to explore so stellar cartography where I'll be working."

"That is wonderful, I am looking forward to looking for exploring new places, and we may have one coming up, as we've got a planet to find, for a small mission." Captain Rutherford remarked. "So to the shuttlebay and off we head to the ship." he paused to send a message for Asta's gear to be sent to the Majestic. "If that is okay with you?" turning his attention to her.

"Yes sir," Asta followed after him happily, surprised and pleased that he'd asked.

Elijah smiled and nodded, sending the request.

"Okay then shall we head out?"

And off he went to where the shuttle bay was, and the shuttle they would be flying in. Once inside, he keyed in the proper coordinates, cleared the flight plan with the station and they were on their way heading towards the USS Majestic. "Care to look at the stars before we ease on into the Majestic's shuttlebay?"

"I think I'll have plenty of time to do that when I'm at work." She was dying to see the inside of the ship. She'd never been on a Majestic class vessel before. Supposedly they had a grand hall and everything for entertaining diplomatic guests.

"All right, then we'll get landed in shuttle bay of the ship and you can get your gear sorted out." Elijah giving a smile. And off they went. He did give Asta a bit of a sight seeing of the ship on the outside, then gently landed the shuttle craft perfectly.

"Welcome aboard, Ensign Kuzal, hope you had a pleasant trip on Rutherford Airlines." giving a chuckle.

"Thanks," Asta blushed which increased the view of her spots. She quickly hurried off the shuttle but as soon as she stepped off the ramp she had to lean her head back and gawk at the view of the shuttle bay which so far was all she could see of the inside of the ship. "I guess . . . I mean. Permission to find my quarters sir?"

"Permission granted" Elijah said, as he watched her stare around. He understood the feeling for he also felt that way when he first came on board.

Asta nodded and without another word wandered off to find her home and her future.
