"Captain, have you got a moment?" Lhaes stepped into the Captain's domain as soon as the door parted. "I know it's not too long ago since we spoke but...this is important..." It was evident from the Romulan's expression that this had taken quite a bit of effort on his part, to even come this far.

"Sure pull up a seat and lets talk. What's going on Commander? Is everything alright with your family? Anything I or Jasmine can help you with?"

Lhaes nodded as he pulled up a chair as invited to do. Slowly, he eased himself down into it. "I don't know if you can help," he admitted. "I heard there's a colony starting at Starbase 21...on the planet below, I mean." The generally so sure officer hesitated. "I think it may be time to focus on my family, I'm a single parent and the times I've been injured in the line of duty are countless. I'm considering resigning altogether sir, but what I'd really like is to move to said colony."

Elijah looked at Lhaes, a contemplative expression in his eyes. "Lhaes, I will do what I can to help out. And I do understand your desire to focus on your kids, and I feel that would be a good idea. I had heard about the colony there, we just need to send a request to see if they will allow it. Also not too far from there is the planet Ba'ku. I will be saddened to see you go but, as a family man myself, a chance to see to the needs of my children, if heaven forbid something happened to my wife, I'd be leaving Star Fleet and take my kids home to my parents."

"I feel it's what I have to do for my children," Lhaes explained, relieved that the captain did seem to understand his position. "I briefly considered it already when I was still married, returning to Earth with my now ex-wife. But Earth has never been home, the only real home I have ever known is Betazed. Aside from where I was assigned, of course. Now, I feel I need to give my children a stable home to grow up, and I can't do that on a ship. I hate to leave you like this, because I have enjoyed my assignments here. However I do believe sickbay will be in capable hands after my departure. I recommend Lieutenant Sekat as my replacement, he does have experience as chief medical officer. Vastly more than I did when I took on the position."

Elijah nodded, "He has seemed to be well suited with taking on that role. And with Lily being there as well, we've got a good team." the captain mused. He pulled out his padd and started the process for Lhaes's request. He lifted his eyes up at Lhaes. "I feel you are making the right decision, and I wish the best for you and your family."

"Thank you sir, only time will tell. How soon will I be able to depart?" Lhaes did want to leave as soon as possible, before any upcoming situation might prevent it.

"You are free to leave as soon as you have your things packed and ready to go." Elijah sliding the padd across towards Lhaes. "All it needs is your signature. And be well, Lhaes, and may you and your family be happy."

Gratefully, the Romulan signed the PADD. "Thank you sir, I do hold that hope. Maybe we will meet again sometime. The Majestic is in good hands, I have no doubt of that "
