The family get together over the vid screen gave Lily a much needed lift. Also, instead of her coyly asking her brothers about her ex boyfriend, the news of him wanting to get back in touch with her, was dropped in her lap. Lily had a mixture of elation and also worry as to the fact that he was still in contact with her brothers. This could be thought of an advantage for both her as well as her ex-boyfriend.
Lily sent a message to Hadir, "Lieutenant Prenar, I would like to schedule a meeting with you. Let me know when an appropriate time would be."
"Now is always the best time. I am in my office." Hadir responded. He wondered what this was about as the news about his father had taken up most if not all of his thoughts.
After going through the process of being allowed into the intelligence office. Lily stepped inside to where Hadir was at, "Hi there. Thank you for seeing me. I found that my brothers are in contact with my ex boyfriend. I didn't have to reach out to him. I would like to set the trap but I am wondering if I should exchange several letters with him, while a plan can be put together to get him."
"I would communicate with him. Get him on the hook as the old saying goes. Asking for a meeting right out of the gate sounds a little off. If he is already suspicious he would not come. So, cultivate the relationship, and in due time we can arrange a meeting. This will allow me to get a plan together as you say and bring him in. There is also the fact that we need to do our due process, ensuring that the paperwork is done etc." Hadir had always been on the fence about the Federation's legal procedures. On the one hand he understood the need for them but on the other hand the hindered his job fairly often.
Giving a nod, Lily drew in a breath. "Well looks like I will need to step in that mindset as to my being nostalgic about him, hoping to convey my utmost feelings of missing him. That is going to be a challenge, with how i feel now." A frown appearing, as she continued. " I wasn't too interested in going into acting when I was in college, that was more of Annabelle's department. Now though I am going to have to practice. Do you have any tips, and have you ever had to do something like this?" a pause, "Wait that is a dumb question there. I feel that anyone who is in Intelligence, has had to practice and hone their skills in subterfuge."
"That skill is something that comes naturally to my people. It is the one stereotype that we do not necessarily dislike. That said, in order to be successful, you have to believe what you say is the absolute truth. If you do not believe it yourself how can anyone else." Hadir was amazed that a Starfleet Officer was not trained in subterfuge. But, then again everyone had gaps in their knowledge.
Before Lily could say anything more, there was a beep from thie intercom.
"Sir, there is an Aisanna Denae here, asking to come in and speak to you. Will that be permissable."
Lily looked at Hadir. "She probably is wanting to find out if we've found out anything more."
"I must be the only Intelligence Officer in the fleet whose office is never empty." Hadir said with a broad smile, then he addressed the comm. "Yes Ensign go ahead and send them in."
"Yes sir. Right away."
Lily gave a chuckle. "You are rather popular it seems."
At that remark the door opened with Aisanna stepping inside, "Hello Lily and Hadir. How are things? It's been a little bit since we've spoken. " making her way to a chair to take a seat, adjusting her skirt.
"Ms Denae welcome back. To what do we owe the pleasure." Hadir stood and poured himself a glass of kanar. He offered the bottle to both Lily and Aisanna.
Taking the bottle of Kanar from Hadir, Aisanna poured herself a glass, turning towards Lily giving her a questioning look. Lily gave a nod, Aisanna pouring her a glass, and handing it to her. Once the kanar was poured, Aisanna walked gracefully to a chair sitting down, then took a sip of the drink before answering.
"Well my dear Hadir, I wanted to see if there has been anymore progress as to Lily's puzzle. And if you need my services anymore at this time. I was able to acquire some personal logs from Annabelle Trevor's parents, who I might add" turning towards Lily, "You may already have known they had moved from being near your parents, to where her father. Abraham Trevor, was from. Polson, Montana. I was able to acquire some of her personal logs, after having a long discussion with Annabelle's mother. Pulling out the data crystal, Aisanna leaned forward to slide the item to Hadir.
At Aisanna's words, Lily gave a nod, she did know that the Trevor's had moved and they seemed to have dropped off the face of the Earth after Annabelle died.
"There has not been too much since we last spoke. We are still working on an absolute identification of the man who had met with Annabelle. The personal logs may help shine some light on that." Hadir sipped his kanar. Truth was there was not much progress to be had here unless Lily could remember a little more.
Aisanna glanced over to Hadir, "Are you meaning, the one at the cabin who met with Annabelle, and the one who was in that picture with Lily, Annabelle and Thorton...." Aisanna's eyes went wide. "Hadir, would you pull up the information that we had recorded when going through Lily's memories. And we need the photo that Lily had given to you."
Lily looked at Aisanna quizzically as she took a drink of the kanar.
Hadir pulled up the information as requested and placed the photo on his desk. "Here you go." He was curious to see where this was going.
Aisanna picked up the photo then regarded the image from Lily's memory. "I'd like to scan this image and have it placed next to this one, from Lily's memory. I've got a hunch about these two images."
"It is your show." Hadir replied as he wondered where Aisanna was going with all of this.
"Computer Isolate these particular images." Aisanna drawing a circle with her finger around both images of the men in question. "Compare the images looking for similiarities between them both. "
While the computer did as what it had been told, Aisanna looked towards Hadir. "If my hunch is correct, we'll find that the two men are one and the same. We still need to find out the man's name. Also, do you have someone who is good at breaking a code? Do you know how to translate a code? In part of Lily's memory she had gone out to the back of the cottage with Annabelle to where a well was. Annabelle had looked at something that was upon the lip of the well, and Lily had briefly looked at it before Annabelle had mussed whatever was there. I am thinking that it could have been a message left there for Annabelle."
As if to accentuate what Aisanna had said the computer gave an indication of the scan being done. The result was an almost perfect match.
"Well there it is then..." Hadir began. "I will work on this man. In the meantiime take your code to Lieutenant Karolyi. Tell her that the decoding is classified and she is to report her findings directly to me." This was the proverbial break in the case that they were looking for. Now, the question was exactly who this man was and why he would do this to Lily.
Lily was quietly watching the whole proceedings, quiet as a mouse. It was uncanny watching Aisanna and Hadir work togeher as if they had done so before.Well in some aspect they have been, but this to her was uncanny. Who was Aisanna truly. At first she just considered Aisanna a really good friend of her mother's but, now there was a side of Aisanna that Lily was finding out.
Aisanna picked that up. and turned to the young doctor. "I've always been like this, I am picking up your concerns. They are broadcasting rather loudly. We will get results and questions will be answered. Can't say all of them but a good amount of them will. " Aisanna giving a comforting smile.
Lily nodded.
"I will contact you with any results about the code. But for now it seems that is the best course of action." Hadir leaned back in his chair as his thoughts turned to all the tasks ahead. There seemed to be so much to do, and so little time to do it in.
"Okay, and thank you." Lily rising up from her seat, having had finished her kanar. "I will be leaving now and get the code to Lieutenant Karolyi" she looked at Aisanna. "Will you be leaving as well?"
"I don't think that Hadir really needs me to be here for the time being." Aisanna turned to Hadir. "You know how to get in touch with me. For now I will vacate your office." giving a playful wink. "Okay Lily, lets get this code to the resident code breaker."
As they left Hadir's blood ran cold, and for a cold blooded Cardassian that was saying something. There was something about this event, something about everyone involved that seemed wrong, out of place even. Cardassians were nothing if not orderly and when a puzzle piece did not fit the puzzle then it usually didn't belong. That was where Hadir sat at the moment. The time had come to play all sides and figure out exactly what was in play here.
