Anja had just gotten back to work after taking a lunch break. She was checking in on her siblngs. A beep on her PADD, caused her to take a look. It was a notification of some sort. Her eyebrows raised , Looking up she made her way to T'Par's office.

"Commander T'Par, it looks like we've got a new addition to the science team coming in."

"He's expected, Chief," T'Par said, standing.

Having gone through security at the Airlock, Warrant Officer Anuki Toku, made his way to his new quarters, dropped off his gear. He then head to the Science Labs to report in with his new boss, Lieutenant Commander T'Par.

Walking down the corridors, he got a few looks. He'd been around humanoids enough to know that some found his kind scary, and others, found his big yellow eyes unnerving. Most though smiled and found him interesting.

Soon he arrived at his destination, his uniform sans boots, as they did not fit his feet. He went over to the Chief Science Officer's office, hoping to find the Commander there.

T'Par regarded the Saurian with the same serene impassivity she regarded virtually everyone and everything. "Welcome aboard, Mr. Toku. We will benefit from the presence of a biologist of your experience."

"Thank you, Commander, I'm sure I'll like it here." Anuki said with what he hoped came across as a smile.

"You have been studying human expressions?" T'Par asked him matter-of-factly.

"Yes, but, they are difficult for my facial muscular to master." Anuki said.

"It's not necessary," T'Par said. "I am accustomed to human emotional responses but I do not share them. In any event, I want all the personnel in the department to be comfortable being themselves."

"That's a relief, Commander." Anuki said. "Other cultures interest me, but they often leave me confused."

"Have you met Lieutenant Sempton and Chief Teach?" T'Par asked, gesturing to the two.

"Not as yet." Anuki said. "But, I would like to."

Anja gave a wave, "Pleasure to meet you, and also Captain Rutherford isn't going to make you wear boots if you are not used to them, and your race aren't likely to wear boots either. "

"You too, I would try smiling, but it is uncomfortable, and scares humanoids." Anuki said. "I appreciate that, my webbing makes shoes impractical, also the soles of my feet have hardened over time, making footwear unnecessary." Looking her over he asked. "What is your specialty, or do you not possess one?"

Orin nodded at Anuki. "Welcome. I'm Orin Sempton, ship's xenoarchaeologist." His eyes darted around the Saurian, taking in as much detail as he could and he began muttering. "Four hearts allowing for increased strength and stamina, incredible visual acuity resulting in broad spectrum sight, two sets of eyelids for protection, a biological ability to filter many atmospheric toxins, a toughened body from a planet with high gravity, and wonderful musicians." He shook his head, as if coming out of a daze. "My apologies. It's the first time I'm meeting a member of your species."

"A pleasure to meet you, Orin." Anuki said. "You are correct with your assessment, though I am not a personally a good musician, I am afraid."

"Mr. Toku is, however, an accomplished biologist," T'Par added. "Our department is expertly staffed to examine new life and new civilizations."

Anja was watching this with great interest. "I work in general science, I hadn't picked a specialty at all."

"There's nothing wrong with that." Orin said, "You are more likely to catch something we specialists miss. What's the old idiom? 'Not being able to see the forest for the trees.'"

"Chief Teach is invaluable to the department," T'Par agreed. "Logically, her position requires a reasonable familiarity with most scientific disciplines."

"Thank you. I do have a question or two about two things that are on the ship currently. And that is from the records, there is a metallic dragon in Cargo Bay Eight and then there is a ancient stasis chamber. I find that fascinating to have that on the ship."

"What is your question?" T'Par asked.

"Will we be getting to study both? And finding out where they come from? And is there any ancient language on it. Sorry this is really intriguing to me. Last place I was serving on we came across some ancient experiments of monstrosities. Hopefully the Dragon that is in the cargo bay is-- Friendly." Anja was feeling a bit nervous at asking this question.

"The dragon is quite friendly," T'Par informed her. "We have been researching both. but it might be useful to have a fresh perspective. You are welcome to participate."

At the talk of this dragon Anuki tilled his head quizzically.

"So.... when can we go see this dragon, and the uh ancient stasis chamber? I would like to see it very much." Anja stated. Looking at both Orin and T'par. "Perhaps that can be done tomorrow though." a notification came to Anja. "Would it be alright if my sister can come to visit at this time?"

"Guardian, the dragon, is somewhat fond of visitors." Orin said "Though they may be somewhat absorbed in the Terran histories and books on mythos I gave them, as they're stuck in the cargo bay due to size limitations. Be prepared for questions."

"My people have myths of dragons too." Anuki said. "We found fossils and people jumped to conclusions, I hear something similar happened on Earth."

"On some worlds, creatures quite similar to dragons have evolved," T'Par noted.

"Well I am looking forward to meeting Guardian, a metallic dragon. And questions? I will have questions of my own." Anja giving a laugh. "Whenever we are ready to go. Let me know for now. Time to go make dinner and see what my siblings are up to. Homework , oh later on I will bring my sister here." she looked at T'Par. "If that will be alright?"

"It's quite all right," T'Par told her.

"Thank you, I'll see you all later." Anja giving a smile and leaving Science.

"I am quite interest in this Guardian too, my understanding is that metal base life forms are extremely rare." Anuki said. "The majority of life forms, in this galaxy, are carbon or silicon based, though the later is rarer." He nodded his head to Anja as she left.
