A New Beginning
Location: Main Engineering, USS Majestic

Usually the Operations and Engineering departments working side by side to keep the ship running smoothly, and Siora definitely wanted to get off on the right foot with the Chief Engineer here. She began her walk into engineering smiling at those that looked her way. It was not uncommon for those that donned the yellow colour to visit these halls and for the most part they continued with their duties. Siora got the odd lengthy stare but she was mostly due to her being an unrecognised face.
She walked up to the warp core and basked in its glow for a moment. There was something enchanting about it, or so she'd always thought, the way the light hit you, the noise. It was her happy place.
Lieutenant Commander Angus Murphy was not typically what one would call a relaxed, gentle soul while on duty. The engineering rigors of a capital starship demanded utmost perfection. Routines were meticulous, details were important, things needed to be in order, people needed to be where they were supposed to be. At the moment there was someone who was where they didn't need to be and that caught his attention.
"Can I help you?" the ginger-haired engineer asked in a pointed voice as he approached the stranger, PADD tucked into the crook of his arm.
Broken from her daydream as a red haired man in yellow almost flew up to her but in truth it was more a paced approach. Siora heard his tone of voice and only offered a warm smile in the man's direction. "I'm just admiring the core." she said simply. "I swear if you listen close enough you can hear her sing."
Murph considered for a second. He nodded, but his eyebrows were knitted with tension. New crewmembers often came to engineering, as though somehow looking upon the core was an activity of enlightenment. "Yes," he finally said. "And if she sings too much, we all blow up and die in a fiery hell." Lookie-loos someone had once even named the warp core tourists and the term had stuck with him. "This is a restricted area. You'll need to be getting back to your authorized decks."
"Only if someone isn't doing their job correctly." Siora replied back to him. "Boom, booms make for a nasty clean up and I am one for a nice clean ship." she added as he then pressed her to leave. "I am authorised to be here, Commander, don't worry. I'm Lieutenant Carberos, the ships new Operations Chief. I assume you are Chief Engineer Murphy?" she asked.
"Ah, Carberos," Murphy's cheeks flushed slightly crimson as he gave an apologetic nod at the question. "Most people just me Murph." He coughed to clear his throat and give himself a second. "Sorry about that. Little leery of... well, it doesn't really matter. Welcome aboard... ashamed to say, but clearly I haven't been keeping up on your arrival news. Are you... uh... settling in?"
"Siora." She replied placing her hand over her heart and giving a small bow as a proper greeting. She could see he was uneasy now she had revealed herself and she did feel sympathetic. "No need to apologise, I understand wanting to protect your territory. There are a lot of suspicious character around these days." she added with a wink but moved a little closer to him as he spoke.
"I'm settling in alright so far, yes. Found my quarters which is quite good for me, my sense of direction is pretty bad." she laughed softly into herself. "I just wanted to meet you, we will be working together to keep this ship in one piece and wanted to put a face to the name."
"I appreciate you reaching out and introducing yourself. Indeed, I look forward to working with you," Murph replied. "Actually, if you're still getting acclimated to the ship, perhaps you'd enjoy coming over for dinner sometime. My fiancé is the head chef and I'm sure he'd love to meet you -- if he hasn't already."
"Well I like people to know who I am so that when I misbehave they can take me home." she grinned devilishly. "No? I haven't met your fiancé." she stated as she listened. "Who is he?" she asked. "And if he is a chef then I'd love to come to dinner. I do enjoy meeting new people, hearing their stories."
"Patrick. He'll be thrilled," Murph smirked, then cleared his throat and glanced back at the warp core. "I suppose I should leave you to your uh... sightseeing, I guess, unless you have anything else you need to discuss."
Siora nodded at hearing the man's name as she listened to what Murph continued to say. "I don't think there is anything glaringly important we need to talk about just now, not unless you have anything?" The man simply shook his head in a negative fashion. "Good, I am looking forward to meeting Patrick. See you soon." Siora added before almost skipping out of engineering.
