Dwayne Dibley checked in and got his room assignment, but the one thing he wanted to do most was have a look at the bridge. Granted, he mostly flew support craft, but he was trained to fly a starship and he wanted to have a look at flight control for himself. Plus, he thought, that was where he'd likely find his boss, the chief. And maybe his boss' boss, the captain.

As soon as the turbolift door opened onto the bridge, Dwayne was in love. It was a beautiful bridge. He stepped off and just looked around, grinning. "I think I just died and went to heaven."

Elijah had just stepped out of the ready room taking immediate notice of a new face.

"Hello, the name is Captain Elijah Rutherford. Is there something I can do for you?" moving up towards the Petty Officer. He was a bit curious.

"My name's Dwayne. Dwayne Dibley. I'm a pilot and I just arrived on the ship." Then he smiled happily. He wanted to do a dance, but he wasn't sure the captain would like it very much.

"Well now, my main helmsman isn't here as of yet, Lieutenant Shalakar. However, you and I can have a chat until she gets here." Elijah moving over to take a seat upon the command chair.

"Sure." Since the chief wasn't here, he sat down and turned to face the captain. "What do you want to talk about?"

"What drew you to become a helmsman? I know I wanted to fly ships as it intrigued me. And I loved it when I got to be the helmsman. That was before I went into the Bridge Command path. I wanted to be a captain of my own ship." Elijah gave a smile.

"Well, as you know, it can be pretty hard gettin' into Starfleet Academy. I tried, but didn't make the grade. So, I got a job on a merchant ship. That's where I fell in love with flyin'. After a few years at the helm, Starfleet let me in as a non-com and here I am." He raised both hands out to his sides and grinned. "Me and ships get along just fine."

"I am glad to hear this." Elijah giving a smile.

Just then the turbolift doors opened and Elijah turned expecting to see S'anra but instead it was Ensign Huojin.

The Ensign paused, noticing that there was a new person seated at the helm. "Hello there, I am Ensign Huojin."

"Hi! My name's Dwayne. Dwayne Dibley. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, looks like we've got all of the shifts covered for helm." Yang giving a grin.

The Captain raised an eyebrow. "We do have other people who can take shifts."

"No disrespect sir but, it’s been me and Lieutenant Shalakar manning this helm station." the ensign having a cheeky grin. "And now we have Petty Officer Dibley."

"Ensign Huojin..." Elijah growled out, his expression causing Yang to freeze for a moment.

"Er sorry sir." giving a weak apologetic smile towards the Captain.

Dwayne prudently said nothing. This time. He'd stick his foot in his mouth at some point, but not today. Today he was on his best behavior. Mostly.

The turbolift doors swished open as S'anra walked onto the bridge, Her waist length raven tresses almost glistened in the light of the bridge. She saw the Captain and two others nearby. " I'm sorry for being a few minutes late for shift Captain, I was in Sickbay getting my six month refill. " As she tapped the inside of her left forearm. " Had to refill the repressors, Wouldn't do to have the bridge distracted. " Stated the Orion woman. " Hi Huojin, On the bridge early as usual. Checking things out to make sure everything is up to specks? " She gave a curious look toward the new comer. " Petty Officer First. I am Lieutenant Shalakar, Chief Helm Officer. And you are? "

"I'm Dwayne Dibley. I'm a pilot and I just got here." She was potent enough as she was. He'd hate to think of what she'd be like if she didn't keep up on her repressors. But why she didn't go early enough to make it on time to her shift, he didn't know and wasn't going to ask. That's why he liked being low man on the totem pole and working what amounted to the night shift.

S'anra smiled and nodded to the newcomer. " It is a pleasure to meet you Petty Officer First Dibley. Since your here we can go to a four person rotation, Six hours shifts. Everyone will do a month on each shift and then rotate to the next shift in line at the start of the next month, everyone will be doing it including myself to keep things fair. And Dibley welcome to the best ship and crew in the fleet. "

Dwayne grinned. "Thank you. That sounds great. But if necessary, I'm happy to take the night shift." He paused and chuckled. "Although in space, technically every shift is a night shift."

S'anra glanced to the newcomer. " I do tend to like to rotate the shifts so no one gets stuck on a shift. However, if you can convince the other two on set shifts, then I shall agree to it. I will also allow shift swapping but only on a one to one shift exchange. That means if someone covers you for five days, you will cover they're five day shift within a week if it's not just a straight across shift trade. Can everyone agree with that?? " She paused briefly. Everyone will work a five day week and our temp pilots will cover us for two days during the week, I don't need anyone getting burned out working seven days a week. "

"I usually get one day off a week so this will be great. It means I have more time to relax." Or go on the holodeck. Dwayne didn't do that much, but now he had the time for it.

S'anra tilted her head towards Dwayne. " If it's not to personal a question Mr. Dibley, What type of things do you like doing in the holodeck? I personally like to write poetry or dance in the forest, sometimes go to a theatre and watch a play or set up a movie night. Anyone else may add their own comments of what they like to do in the holodeck, right after Mr. Dibley of course. Perhaps we could use some of these ideas for a department get together in the future. "

"My favorite program is Dan Fry, Super Spy. Dan is suave, good looking, and a great dancer." He also liked a program where he was one of only three survivors on a mining ship. In that one he played a cool cat, but that was his private fantasy.

Yang was listening to the discussion, having a huge smile, "That sounds pretty fun. I'd like to partake in that activity if you are of the mind to set that up for an adventure."

Dwayne grinned. "Certainly. We cool cats love to share."

Elijah chuckled, "it looks like all of you will be working rather well together." he looked at the chronometer. "For now though, get some shuteye as we'll be on our way to our next destination." the Captain looking like he was getting ready to leave the bridge. "See all of you later."

S'anra looked up at Elijah and winked at him. "Aye Sir. It looks like I've got myself a good group of pilots. If you'd like me to Captain, I could also train them to pilot a shuttle the same way I do. " She said with a grin as if sharing a private joke.

"No disrespect intended, but why would I want to fly like you? I make my own magic," Dwayne said, grinning. "And now its time for this cat do do as the captain says and shuffle off to my digs." He waved to everyone, did a little dance move, and headed back to the turbolift.
